2012 London Olympics

Anyone see the road race late last night? Thought it was fascinating - the tactics were awesome by O'Grady. The poms had a red hot collection of riders who were riding as a team with the aim of getting Cavendich the gold medal. O'grady organised a few hot riders…all from different countries...and they rode as a team creating a breakaway group that was never caught. It was a big up yours to the poms - I loved it!

Yeah Stryker I watched that - very intriguing race! Cavendish is now blaming the Aussies for negative riding  Obviously bitter cause he didn't win.

What a sook! He had the best side by a mile. They should have grabbed the Germans who were also strong and chased that leader group down. They left it far too late and ended up finishing in the 30's Lol. Sucked in I say…..

Looking forward to watching the mens 4x100m relay swim team. The Aussies are seriously fast. The Missile mowed everyone down like Thorpie used to in the heat. When interviewed he said 'yeah it was a pretty easy swim. We'll go a lot faster tonight'.

Looks like I am getting up early in the morning.....

Cavendish and the Sky team can probably thank an Aussie (Michael Rodgers ) for winning the Tour de France

He was unbelieveable at times when Cadel Evans tried to break him

Talk about short memories :brick:

Cavendish barely rates as an athlete , he gets towed for 190+kms and then goes hard for 750 metres

Getting interviewing advice from Tim Sheens no doubt

When Eamon Sullivan is the 3rd best swimmer on your team you know it's a bloody strong team. Can't wait, hopefully it is as good as the Beijing final, I'll never forget Lezak chasing down Bernard to win it for the Americans.

Well that was seriously disappointing. The mens 4x100m relay side was flogged. Every member swam poorly. Feel very sorry for them. They must be crushed. Mat Target just got interviewed and he looked bewildered. Intermated that all his hard work has been for nothing…when you consider the sacrifices these blokes make the dissappointment must be immense.

Thats competition though...it all comes down to the day itself.

The Missile was pretty cocky after the Heats last night, but walked off with his tale between his legs this morning…

Hopefully he can pull his heads out of the clouds and knuckle down to swim his individual heats/semis to take gold in the final!

C'mon Aussies!!!!!

Yeah it was very disappointing, that was probably our strongest team since Sydney. As others have said, the missile was cocky after his heats, maybe that knocks him down a peg and gets his head into it.

Perhaps if he didn't get his cushy handout from the government and had to work a part time job he would not have time to make such stupid comments in the press.

What a waste of money. Coates justified Olympic expenditure because it makes the country feel proud every four years. Absolute lunacy given the alternative recommended was to invest in junior sport to counter an obesity epidemic in children.

I am totally peeved at Channel 9's "coverage" of the Games. I came home today ready to watch some highlights this afternoon and they have the Ellen DeGeneres show on. Are you serious?! It's total bollocks. Not only that, their London Gold program on late morning just shows replays of what they've already shown overnight. One of the things I love about the Olympics is watching the not so popular sports like handball, shooting, fencing, weightlifting etc. I dont mind if they want to show the Aussies live and through primetime, but why not show some of these lesser sports at other times?

First they ruin the NRL broadcast, now the Olympics. No wonder the AFL jumped ship

Fox coverage is exceptional. With 8 chanels, if you cant find something to watch your not trying. I was watching the kayaking and rowing last night. Something I only watch every 4 years. It was awesome.

My Facebook news feed was getting a work over with people upset they weren't showing the Dream Team live and showing kayaking and gymnastics instead. It could be things like that which cause people to say the coverage is poor.

Who are the dream team?

Anyone notice all the Medal Winners for Australia are Queenslanders.

Ya gota love Queensland… Beautiful one day, creating even more legends the next

I hate Channel 9 coverage they replay every race we won or have gotten medals twenty times a day, they don't show other sports just the ones with Australians in and talk for the rest of the programming, they start plugging their shows coming up including the god awful Big Brother shuffling ad's it's annoying

I've been watching it on Foxtel but I think I remember a comercial where channel 9 was also showing it on Gem or one of their HD channels as well.

Yes, and with lots of media talk before the event as well :unamused:

Alex, the best time to watch the Games on 9 is from 6.30pm onwards. After the swimming heats, they usually cross to those not so popular sports for hours until the finals come back on early the next morning. Of course, that's probably the time you go to bed, I imagine. Unfortunately, it's always been a problem being in such a different time zone to the rest of the world - the tyranny of distance.

I work mornings, so am home by lunch time. I was so looking forward to watching some random sports this arvo but all that was on were day time soapies and replays of the relay!
