2012 London Olympics

I guess that's where fox sports is so awesome. 8 channels each with a different sport. Euro handball is the bomb.

I was watching air rifle tonight and damn if that's not the most boring thing ever. Still watched though. Gymnastics every day please. God damn.

Does anyone have an issue with the fact that some of our swimmers are wearing yellow scullcaps and some are wearing white

Maybe I'm old fashioned , but maybe we should worry about winning medals and all wearing the same colour scullcap than worrying about their sponsors

If they did what the Aussie cricketers have done with numbering the baggy green and do the same with the skullcaps and putting some pride in it all

Next thing Punter will be wanting to get rid of the baggy green because it doesn't match his eyes :unamused:

Did our "Weapons of mass destruction" (men freestyle relay ) remind you of any NRL side ??

Promised heaps and delivers squat ??

The entire swimming campaign look shot. These athletes receive more attention, sponsorship and funding than any other competitors in any other sport and so far it's a complete disaster. To hear a clearly overweight Leisel Jones rabbiting on like a tourist after her event is an insult to the taxpayers, who have funded this girl, like every other member of the swimming team, to the extent of about $1mill a head. There a 47 in the London team, how many are or were ever going to be medal contenders?

It's going to be up to the Rowers and Cyclists to pull us out of the very large hole we are in. Looking at the worst gold medal return since Barcelona

These 2 groups of athletes regularly pump up Australias medal tally. They are pretty much the unsung heros of the entire squad as they enjoy good success yet barely any of them are household names. I could name a couple of road cyclists such as Evans, O'Grady and a couple of velodrome sprinters such as the Mears sisters and Tomkins as a rower and thats pretty much it. I dont follow any of these sports outside of Commonwealth and Olympic games yet I could name 20 swimmers….
You are correct in saying the swimmers recieve a lot of attention. They are not living up to expectations and represent a pretty poor ROI.

Hopefully they can turn things around.

Another great moment this morning was Emily Seebohm's emotion after coming 2nd… She was in tears as she felt 'sorry' for her family who made the trip, the Australian Fans who got up early to watch her swim and felt she had let everyone down by not winning Gold.

Thank you for being so humble Emily!

[Just like to again point out she is another Queenslander]

Yeah, I do, Happy! Damn annoying! In one heat every swimmer was wearing a white cap and black swimsuit. I kept losing track of who the Aussies were, even the commentators had no idea! It has something to do with speedo. I think they only made the new olympic caps in white!?

Our work has Foxtel so I got to see their coverage today. Was fantastic! Had heard some negative things about them but I had no issues.

FOX coverage is all over 9's

The Koreans totally snubbing the chinese after their gold win in archery last night was very poor sportsmanship….but some of the shooting was terrific

Darcy gone?
Karma.

Cook next.

Cricketers get big money contracts from CA, many of the swimmers don't get that. Coutts won 5 gold medals in Delhi 2 years ago making her one of the big guns of the Australian team and still works part time to pay prop up her swimming career. Not to mention cricketers can get money through other sponsorship deals (Sunnies, bats, etc). Apart from the big names (Magnusson, Rice, maybe Sullivan) I think a lot of the swimmers would be in the same boat.

Our campaign looks a rabble at the moment. I am not even sure if we will pass Barcelona's medal tally, it seems like whatever gold medal hope we have in an event, it turns to dust.
Is it just me or is our Olympics cycle going the same way as it did after we had the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, at the Melbourne Olympics we were 3rd on the medal tally with 35 medals, we then steadily dropped away to the point where by the 1976 Montreal Olympics, we won no gold and only 5 medals in total. We then steadily built our way up with our home Olympics being our peak, and now we are slipping again.

As if she would of learnt to be a winner in Adelaide MM

Born in another state , decide they want to be a champion , and then its obviously time to move to Qld

You guys have to get over your jealousy issues , or you'll all end up looking like Sabre with Princey as your Avatar

Got to remember that we are a tiny nation of 23 million people. We are up against powerhouse contries of 100's of millions and still medalling. We really should have no right being in the top 10 yet will probably end up there somewhere.

There has certainly been disappointments but we will also be shocked by someone - it happens every games. They are all giving their best.

Maybe if she moved to NSW she would've won gold. Maybe if Scott moved here too he would've held on to beat Els.

Funny how only Queenslanders count individual state medals, hasn't the news of federation reached you folk up there yet?

Lol… She moved to Qld when she was 3.

Her family was gona move to NSW but found out the only swimming stroke they had was Dog Paddle?!

Do you blokes actually have an Sports Acadamy down there? ( please not, sooky la la is not a sport )

The white caps are new technology designed to help them go faster. Yellow caps are old technology. Personally they should go back to wearing yellow so I can distinguish the Aussies from the rest
