2013 halfback

i dont think there are really any other genuine candidates for the position other than miller and moltzen..

my idea would be to rotate them both, based purely on form…

miller is no doubt a future talent, but i don't know if is 26 NRL rounds + semis ready. time between NSW cup and NRL could serve him well (take what he learns from NRL one week back to NSW Cup, work on areas and apply knowledge, then come back to NRL).

moltzen has been torn to shreds on the forum, but when he has played in the half position, he has really played well (also has the best/longest kicking game in our team). i dont think his performances at fullback should be a factor when determining the halfback.

anyway, let rip...

Sheens constantly chopping and changing the halves combos all year was a major factor in our failure…..you wanna continue with that?

Preferably a common & consistent 1-6-7-9 all year would be best

Dropping a half due to form isnt the same as dropping a backrower or winger....dropping a 7 affects the whole team

I almost wrote "if Sheens is going to persist with Moltzen….".

The times they are a changin'.

I'd give Miller a shot. He's a natural halfback, who has been chosen as the Junior Kangaroo half for the past 2 years. Surely he is ready to step up and make the position his own, especially now Sheens isn't there chopping and changing things.

Miller is a star of the future. He just needs to check the ego a little.

Almost every NRL club would kill for a player of his talent.

He gets my vote for sure with young Sirro at 13

I'm not a big Miller fan. He goes alright but I haven't seen anything special in either 20's or his couple of first grade appearances. Actually prefer Moltzen!

That is right Ink,Sheens killed our chances wih his 9 different halves throughout the year,a rookie mistake from a so called master coach, coupled with his moving 3 or 4 players to fill one spot.
Miller has earned a proper shot at the 7,not a half baked go like Sheens gave him,one game here and one game there with instructions to pass to Benji,he needs to be left there to settle in.

Agree. Anasta to second row then? Beauty.

1\. Tedesco
6\. Benji
7\. Miller
9\. Robbie
12\. Anasta
13\. Sirro
17\. Moltzen

Looks good to me.

I'd consider Anasta at 7 and Benji at 6\. The alternative is Benji at 7 and Sirro at 6 which showed potential this year. Not sure Miller is ready yet, I'd look to play him in State Cup and have him as a backup.

Of all the 9 halves combination we used in 2012, I thought the best were Benji/Sirro and Benji/Fulton. But no one really wants Benji to have to play halfback.

Seems to me we'd better give Miller a go, otherwise he'll go somewhere else.

BTW, I believe strongly that if Sirro Jr hadn't dislocated his shoulder and had played the season out, we would have made the play-offs (!)

What Miller needs as probably Blair is a coach with some fire in the belly and direction my way or the high way!

Id give miller 3 games in a row at the start of the year, see how he goes week in week out playing and training with the squad rather then a last minute inclusion. If need be drop him back to nsw cup to work on whatever issues he may have.

This should have been done in 2012.

Miller should be picked at half first up and given the opportunity especially after his form at the later end of this season. It will be up to him to grab the chance with both hands and make the most of it, if he does, great.
