2016 Salary Cap and Player Use

With what actual little factual information we receive as fans/members regarding the salary cap and where it limits our use of lower grade players who we might want to promote for reasons of form or to cover injury, it brings this point.

Going forward into the new season, and if the coach wants to drop an out of form player and replace him with a lower grader, or even cover an injury, is our 2nd tier Salary Cap better off (ie can we more easily just bring up a replacement player) because of the trials and tribulations that have beset our club since the Marina Go/Jason Taylor/Justin Pascoe admissions that we were a mess, albeit one where everyone is moving heaven and earth to remedy the problem.

The thing is that, with the limitations we have been under, there was never pressure to replace a player etc.

IF OUR WAS AS BAD AS THEY MAKE OUT THR nel WOULD HAVE ISSUED US WITH MASSIVE FINES BY NOW, TO TELL U THE TRUTH I THINK ITS BETTER THAN THEY LET ON. I BELIEVE THERE USING IT TO MOVE PEOPLE ON. (SORRY FOR CAPS)

Depends on what our cap situation is like now, and despite all the experts…I believe if you asked every NRL coach if they could have one thing, continuing combinations/minimal forced and or unforced changes to their top squad would be at the top of their lists.

All coaches would have belief in their plans and strategies going into a new season, be prepared to work hard on what they discover needs tweaking as the season rolls on, just as theyd have a belief in the top squad they choose themselves....there are enough forced changes through a season due to reps selection, injuries and suspensions without a coach dropping players willy nilly

They back their decisions at the start of the season...once they start deviating from this at say round ten, and then again in rd 12, then rd 13, changing changing changing....you can pretty much kiss the year good night

But as I recall, bp tiger, there were times due to injury we needed to replace someone with someone but we were limited as to who might fit due to cap restraints.

Thanks for the rare & constructive and interesting thread T1…

Too bad everyones only interested in just the garbage and nothing else

I'm not sure that this is true. I think a bigger issue has been lack of depth especially in the outside backs. We replace quality players like Simona with guys that lack the ability to compete in the top grade at this point in their careers.
