2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Shame the NRL moves our Panthers home game to Brisbane. Should have had to come to Leichhardt to face the fans.

There would have been some very good banners at LO if we had played Panthers there.

Ivan “Mitch Moses” Cleary.

Ivan “Rosa Parks you ain’t she stayed on the bus”

Never mind the supporters, it’s a bigger slap in the face to the players. Asking them to buy in and commit than scurry away at the first opportunity. And to not show them enough respect to front them in person. Yeah, the players are on their break, but if he really wanted to, he could have asked them to turn up to Concord tomorrow to tell them properly.

I said it before and I’ll say it again - I can’t wait for the opportunity to front this grub and tell him face to face what I think of his integrity. I’ve never even considered doing this before but this bloke promised the world and has let thousands of people down.

Promised the world??
He didn’t let me down, he just showed the whole league community what a knob he is.
Yeah he played it out all wrong but that’s his burden to carry.
You can only speak for yourself Steve.

Wonder who leaked it.

I wonder what replies he got from the players..
'Thanks, Ivan, all the best, mate', or '[automatically edited] off you disloyal, hypocritical grub! Hope you crash and burn a second time at Panthers' ?

$10 says it was Tim Grant

G'day boys
"I hope this finds you well and enjoying your time off,” Cleary said.
"I was writing to you in the hope of beating the press.. to let you know that I will no longer be your coach at Wests Tigers.
"This is an extremely uncomfortable situation for me as I have genuine fondness for the club, and I have loved coaching you all.. I understand that this situation has caused some pain for people that I care about, along with putting the club in an awkward situation… I do not feel good about this.
"I would have preferred to do this in person but time and circumstances have made that impossible.
I hope we meet again soon and I wish you all the very best in the future. You have my number and I am always open for a chat if you wish.
Iv."

What a masterbator"…....

I hope Ivan receives a few texts from the players and some phone calls telling him exactly what they think of him and his bus.
I have lost all respect for this bloke.
What an absolute dog of a man.

And that is being kind…......

Well that’s correct Balmainian, I didn’t actually canvas thousands of people before I wrote the post. But if I did I reckon the evidence would be on my side. Just a hunch

Can we start a new McGuire thread to discuss who you think he will bring in or let go - Players or coaches etc..

Have we got another new coach geez Maguire didn’t last long.

Please tell me we didn't sign Eddie!

Well you know that they call him Eddie Everwhere.
:roll

I’m honestly glad his cowardly act has been exposed to the media but I’ll be relieved when we finally announce Maguire.
I agree with everyone that it was the lowest possible way for the players to receive the news and I absolutely feel for each and every one of them right now. But is no one else not concerned about the Board’s role in all this?
Sorry to be a buzzkill, but I honestly thought the Board was responsible for informing the players. Even more so because matters were still in negotiations as late as today. I’m only concerned because if Madge decides to drop a player, I don’t want to see it splashed all over the news.
So I guess I mean, I just hope the Board are more vigilant with everything from here on in.

I think the fact that negotiations were still being held as late as today probably made it impossible for the club to inform the players of anything. My old fashioned view is that the players are paid to play and the club tries to provide them with best coach that they can, under all the circumstances. I doubt that Maguire would drop a player unless it was a face to face situation, which means after the tests between England and NZ.

I actually think the board and in particular Pascoe, who had management of the negotiations with Bennett, Maguire, Cleary and Penrith, with all of them being in different countries a lot of time, did a great job. Bennett says he gave this club serious consideration but in the end, wouldn't come here in 2019\. I think it's a toss up as to which coach would have been best for us but I see Maguire as a long term proposition and is the best fit for us.

From me, a big "well done" to all concerned.

Cleary the terrible, saying 'feel free to call me let's chat', sounds like he is inviting them to switch teams also. What an absolute low act. And Gus is a manipulative piece of work that one. he doesn't speak the truth, he speaks what serves his purpose. Wouldn't listen to him and expect any truth there.

If Wests Tigers were reading this, please organist a Trial game vs Penrith, at Leichhardt or Campbo. (Before the GF hopefully,) It would be the biggest game of the year.

Gus on twitter tonight has been nauseating

Apparently the media has an agenda against him & he’d tell the truth about the whole saga but he won’t because we’ve already made up our minds .
