This is totally from left field , did anybody have an idea this was going to happen ? How was this kept out of the media ? I’m in shock

Haha didn't even have the cojones to front the players.

What a dog. Hope whatever the motivation is, that it is worth it.

Maybe he was told in no uncertain terms to go nowhere near the players. Probably already cleared the desk out.

Now that it is official Ivan will leave us with his reputation completely destroyed and in tatters. It is highly unlikely any club in the NRL would seek his services again.
Hopefully he has a terrible year with his mate Gould and they both get their fair share of karma.
It will be interesting to see what Maguire brings to the club imho he was far more preferable than Bennett

He will never have to work again under this deal.

It's a stupid move as if you would put it in writing.

I don’t understand why GO had to thank the slimmy turd.

Well she did have to but at least she did it in such a curt way that her true message reads loud and clear. That was the club giving the middle finger to old mate "Iv".

I've just got home from church because I promised God I would go each week if he made sure we didn't hire Bennett as a coach.

I'm still at a loss as to why we contemplated that and my fellow WT supporters who still believe he is the greatest coach ever might wish to read this article….

https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/knights/newcastle-regrets-you-too-wayne-fans-furious-with-bennett-remark/news-story/95dae2eb298eefb425122332d415bccf

I've heard all the arguments on this forum and elsewhere, and I'm yet to be convinced that he is so good. Take away the underhanded money and the exclusive use of some of the best cattle in a whole state, and you see no more than any other coach.

Thank you oh Lord.

I agree mate, although if he was willing to come now I might have accepted it, but I thought all along Madge was a far better long term coach for us. And I was 100% against burnng next year waiting for Bennett in 2020, a really bad idea that one

I bet Cleary will be getting a Christmas from JT. JT is now as popular as Benji circa 2005 by comparison. Who’d have thought that 6 months ago 😂

Anyway, glad this is all finally put to bed.

6 months and about 200 more pages before it is put to bed.

Wests Tigers release Ivan Cleary

Wests Tigers have today confirmed that the club has released Ivan Cleary from the remainder of his coaching contract.

Cleary was contracted to Wests Tigers until the end of 2020 but has been released immediately.

Wests Tigers Chair Marina Go thanked Cleary for his efforts while at the club.

“On behalf of everyone at Wests Tigers I would like to thank Ivan for the work he did during his time at the club,” said Go. “Ivan oversaw a period of significant change at Wests Tigers and his work will leave a positive impact on the club.”

Wests Tigers will announce the appointment of a new Head Coach shortly.

says everything…in saying nothing...Well done Wests Tigers...,good riddance..

Exactly, but the Maguire announcement says it all, it was not of our making, meaning Cleary asked to be released

Took the high road. Stay classy wests tigers.

Yep, it would've been easy to take the low road. You really cant fault how the WTs management have handled the whole situation.
