Slightly conflicting there Lauren.

I think Justin and Marina are taking their time to ensure they explore all possible options and go through the due process. Our problem before was that we didn't do that.

Yeah now we're awaiting on how things unveil at the Broncos and it makes me feel they haven't really got a handle on things.
Rash might be the wrong word. But I don't want the club to set forth a plan totally based on another club's decision. This sends the wrong message to me.

Meanwhile Gus Gould only has to sit back while everything plays into his hands. This is what is most frustrating to me.

I want super coach Bennett, either next year or 2020.

I think he is a myth, the teams he has had success with have been brimming with talent.

So if he comes he and doesn’t do any good he is a myth. If he comes he and gets us into the semis every year, then I’ll gladly admit to being wrong.

So you want a coach for spite purposes?

And …
If we have to wait until 2020 to get the super coach let’s keep Cleary - even if it is to coach against his son a few more times next year.

We’ve waited this long for success, one more season doesn’t matter. I’m hearing the playing group want Bennett, too.

You’re too clever.

Maybe we've made our decision

And maybe our future coach knows he has the job

But we are delaying an announcement to make pus gus sweat it out a bit

You want Bennett but you think he's a myth?

You might be on to something, any hurt we can cause Gus is well earned on his part

One thing Madge might be able to bring with him is a couple of big scary Islanders to fill out the side and give us some strength up front. The Kiwis love him, and the Tigers would be like a second home with the ones we have already. Not enough for a Haka but we are getting there….

Please. If Maguire is signed this is a disaster.

A tad over the top imo. How is it a disaster? Sinking Boats full of fleeing refugees is a disaster. Maguire signing with us is just something you disagree with. Me, on the other hand, thinks it would be a huge upgrade and would bring discipline to our club. He might also redesign our forward pack - he likes a strong middle game.

Maguire 'might' bring players and he "might" be better than Ivan.

Scour the internet and I guarantee you won't find evidence of any player holding off from re-signing with his current club because he wants to know where Madge is coaching in 2019.

Bennett meantime has at least 3 players in a position to come with him if he joins WT. Pangai Jr, Oates and Lodge. All have held out of re-committing to the broncos because they want to know where Wayne is going.

https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/broncos/oates-adds-new-twist-to-bennett-drama/news-story/a48857d4aa8471b9bb589e3879f49dcc

Why can anyone say they'd have Maguire over Bennett in that context?

If we get it will be a game changer.

Oates has been pretty emphatic that he’s wants to stay at the Broncos and wants to be a One Club Butter fingers( sorry , couldn’t resist that)
The same thing that he’s been saying for weeks, he’s not coming here, or by the sound of it anywhere .
And didn’t Tevita, or whatever his name is, sign with the Broncos about a month or so ago,
Not sure on that one but I think he did.
Anyway why would they want to leave a team like they should have next year?
Most players would kill to be in a forward pack like theirs should be.

Why would Gus sweat it out
They’ve got choices , and aren’t hanging out for a coach that can theoretically bring players with him
It seems that Penrith are still in the box seat whatever happens
After playing ducks and Drakes for this long , our guys have to come up with something soon, or risk looking like Amateurs.

Yes and yes.
As I said, if he is the super coach and gets us firing then I’ll be the first to admit that I’m wrong. If he doesn’t improve us then he is no super coach.

Because they have ciraldo but want IC

Anyway you need to get a life

You comment negatively on every post written like it personally affects you

My post was just a light hearted thought on what might be happening

It might not be though

I don’t really care

But you obviously do

I haven't posted too much on this as I haven't been too sure how I feel but now its sort of getting there. For my 2 cents worth I think that:

a/ WT sign a new coach for 2019 onwards whoever that might be.
b/ Cleary is not released early unless Penrith cough up reasonable compensation.
c/ No compensation Cleary just sits out 2019-20 whilst WT new coach gets on with their job.

Not matter how much we may point fingers at Gould and the Penrith manager whose name escaped me now, Cleary has a large part of the blame on his shoulders and unless Penrith comes up with compensation, Cleary can rot on the sidelines. I feel not one iota of compassion / consideration for him going early to Penrith. I'm not going to reward him in any way for this mess he has placed us in without compensation from Penrith to us.

You're right. I can't stand the fact that Gould comes out of this with exactly what he wanted. I'm inclined to offer Benny a 3/4 yr contract from 2020, tell Cleary he is going nowhere next year and take away all recruitment decisions from him. Might just wipe the smirk off Gould's face.

The problem is it seems Wayne is more honourable than Cleary. Unfortunately, that means we need the Broncos involved. We have a plan, it just has dependencies. Madge would be our backup option if Wayne isn't here in 2019 and that is probably timeboxed to the end of the week. To me, that's the right plan for the best outcome for us. Don't care how it's perceived in the short term.

Gus doesn't really hold all the cards here. We could always keep Cleary under contract and mess with him. But I don't think we will. Hopefully, we can get a deal for an early release in return.

His contract would state he's employed to coach WTs NRL team… Anything else we'd have him doing we'd be in breach

Let him take us to court. Im not saying he doesnt get paid, he just doesnt get the work due to his bringing the club into negative press and actually working with Penrith to nullify his existing contract with WT.
