2019 Coaching saga -Thread

Wait a second I don't think anyone disagrees Ivan is the one who caused all this has no integrity left and will go down as the most despised Coach in our history…

Yet part of the strategy to keep him was an extension offered not yet deserved and that's good Management.. extraordinary lenghts indeed..

Yes I agree with this. Offering him an extension to test his motives.
Why couldn’t we just sit him down and talk to him straight, ‘look I know you want to go.
Is it imperative it’s right now or do you want to see out what you’ve started.
I’m happy to meet in the middle and let’s walk away with our reputation and dignity in check and call 2019 the final hurrah?’

Because people don't tend to be honest in these situations. They're too busy worrying about their legal position and ensuring they don't potentially trigger any breaches. Also, why would the club care about his reputation and dignity if he's ditching us? And why would they want him here for another year if he's not committed long term?

I doubt that Penrith paid out Cleary's contract with us in full.

I don't think that's what's being suggested, just that they are making a contribution (of say $200K-$250K/year) for the remaining years of his contract (2019 and 2020).

Because before all this there was a respected professional relationship in tact.
Out of respect of that I’m disappointed they couldn’t have come to an honest agreement.

I just don’t beleive we took the firm approach.
Publicly denieing an issue and a release to Cleary why every Tom Dick and Harry could write the ending before it was announced in my opinion was a cowards way out.
I’m not sure I have the same faith in Pascoe as I once did as a negotiator and deal maker.
And then the Wayne announcement where it was stated that we didn’t see Wayne a good fit…. why on earth then were we reinstating the message that Wayne is our highest priority.
Hypocritical to say the least.

Jesus Christ the amount of validation certain people need by strangers on the internet is a worry.

Who cares what was said by the club at the time. They've managed to trade up on a no win situation. The club will move on shortly, and hopefully everyone moves on with them.

Bit like being told how to support your team by strangers is a worry …...

Just my opinion

Oh please…you gotta be geeing us up

Like I said to Momo in the other thread , you want to live mediocrity that's fine , do it , just don't do it on my watch OK

Settling for sub standard must be fun Ink

Stick to the bus Ink , you'll be fine mate

I wasn't telling you how to support the team Ink or Momo I was observing how you appeared to be supporting the team on this occasion

Which appeared a lot different than normal

I just find it amusing how it is OK for you to throw barbs at people (like the snickers comments ) but when the shoes on the other foot you want people hung , drawn and quartered

I can distinctly remember you asking the MODs to ban me for a comment that I made in regards to Grant Mayer telling an official who then told the Tedesco family that he "couldn't see what all the fuss in Tedesco is "

No different really , but you can't have it both ways

I find that pretty appalling.
Panthers want Cleary but yet do not want to pay him his full worth for the season.
Yet we are stuck paying part of his contract for the next 2 years.
I couldn’t care less about compensation as I thought we were Buckley’s to recieve anything extra but not even to get the contract bought out.
Ivan would be weeding and mowing Concord Oval this coming year if I was in charge!

Wow…you invest so much in this place, and take so much on board...

Looks to be the same thing to me...anyway, carry on bunching your panties, you really are embarrassing yourself

Oh yeah....and get ypourself a sense of humour. (snickers) its a joke :unamused:

Another Brent Read inside word is it?

How close did he go to getting it right this time.

So far he has reported- NC to Tigers,
Wayne to Tigers and both ended up wrong!

Surely we wouldn't be paying Cleary anything past this year.

I am pretty sure when you ask for a release you get nothing.
Panthers topping up difference between Ivan's contract & madge.

I think that Penrith are paying WT an amount as compensation for the remaining 2 years of Cleary's contract. WT won't be paying Cleary one red cent beyond 31 October. Not quite sure if that's what you're saying.
