Who cares ,,The Clearys are Penrith problem now ..

This.

Does it really matter whether he asked for a realease or not? Never underestimate the need of validation by strangers on the internet.

Exactly right who cares how it played out it is done and the family issues wouldn’t be our issues. Nathan and Ivan are coming to have dramas at some point when times get tough and one or the other is under pressure

If we don't get compo then we should have negotiated harder. It's as much about sending a message that we can't just be raided at the leisure of cashed up clubs that take a liking to our coach as it is about the finances. We need to push for both cash and a public acknowledgment that compensation was paid (without the amount needing to be made public).

Agreed!

I think today's article quoting Penrith Chairman regarding Cleary's move, is another clear case of misinformation in order to placate Clubs supporters regarding the vast outlay of $s to Cleary clan over next 5 seasons.
I have no doubt that the terms of release MOU / Contract has a confidentiality clause regarding $s compensation issue. I also have a source close to the WT Club who has confirmed that under no circumstance was Cleary to be allowed a released from his WT obligations without such compensation in place. They were quite willing to let him serve his time.
Now not sure what the latest twist may be and whether the $s are still there in the release documents OR if there is some other trade issue involved where Cleary takes some players (unwanted by Maguire) as $s trade off.
Whatever it pans out to be I very much doubt that the Board and Pascoe would have agreed for anything less.

Not sure where you have been during all of this, but if you don’t believe that there was a continuos barrage of different theories by all the so-called journalists , commentators, and the public.
You must have been off the Planet,
Brent Read has ran so many guesses that he must have had trouble in remembering just what what his official opinion actually was..

The silliest Theory, was from the crowd that were convinced that Gold Bar Benny was on his way to Concord( or wherever our Home is this week)
That was never going to happen, but that story was being pushed all over the place

We were only ever linked to 2 coaches Bennett and Madge. What planet are you living on? What different theories are you talking about. It was one consistent story. Ivan meets with Penrith, asks for a release, Tigers say no, Cleary signs for 2021, tigers speak to Bennett/Madge, madge signs, Cleary released. Don’t try to re write history now.

For God's sake, let it go.

Why?? I’m responding to a post that I’m involved in. How’s that your business dopey?

And here in lies the problem. Stick to the issue rather than insulting people and we’d all be better off. But you’re not the only one.

I fully agree with what you're saying. And I know you're not the only guilty party…. but the endless pointscoring is tedious.

I apologise I take it back. Happy to move forward and discuss the future then what happened in the past.

I believe that Ivan Cleary during his time at Wests Tigers was always fated, due to family connection, to perform the task of Wests Tigers stop gap coach. Michael Maguire now coach for the next four years is the club's future and the sooner the West Tigers supporters and players get behind him so much better it will be for West Tigers future. Get behind him and the club will certainly prosper.

I spoke to a Souths supporter today and he reckons that of all the coaches on the move, we got the best one. Hopefully he is right.

Well I enjoyed the coaching debate - after all thats what a forum is all about - and no one can be right all the time.
Looking forward to see what Maguire can bring, and the development of the new COE, even the WSS - not sold on that too much but interested to check it out.
Happy to set the Clearys free to pursue their dream and get on with the plan we have, instead of helping them to fulfil theirs. Interesting times ahead.

Ok, so now that we’ve acquired Maguire any ideas on who if anyone he might bring along in terms of .coaching staff.

Possibly new conditioning staff?

Think Robbie's brother is still a physio at Souths.

That's great for us and a job well done by Justin & Marina. Have seen some stupidly argue on social media that because WT outlaid Maguire was an upgrade, that was enough grounds for Ivan to walk and we were entitled to nothing. And that wasn't the worst of it. You think you lose some braincells from disagreements on these forums…..try arguing with Panthers fans on Twitter.
