I’m looking forward to seeing Shawn Blore and Asu Kepaoa continue to grow their game a become regulars in 2021.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Stefano Utoikamanu is played off the bench on a regular basis and hopefully Jake Simpkin makes the most of his changes.
So that’s 4 Rookies that have a very good chance of becoming NRL regulars.

Does anyone see potential for any of the other rookies in our squad making much of a mark on season 2021?

Alex Seyfarth
Jock Madden
Tukimihia Simpkins
Zac Cini

Development players: Kelma Tuilagi, Reece Hoffmann, William Kei

I think all development players have great potential.

I wasn't overly fussed with Seyfarth's performances last year but will give him the benefit of the doubt - he will only be used as depth. Madden might get a few games however I doubt we will see Simpkins or Cini in 2021.

Would like to see them all eventually compete for starting spots....

Simpkins will most definitely be featuring in 2021. What on earth are you thinking??

I'd love for players to earn there spot. Simpkins definitely featuring seems like it's a given when his has played 1 game in 18 months when the season kicks off. Imagine if he actually had to play some decent footy to get in to the top grade. But he will most definitely be there.....
Liddle could also kill it for 80min each week...but Simpkins is definitely going to be there....

I knew this would happen...we have Jake Simpkin no S who is the hooker and we have Tulimiha Simpkins with an S a big back rower signed from the Cowboys..

When the hooker Simpkin splits them from dummy half and finds a rampaging Simpkins on the way to the TRYLINE all bets are off..

. . . One step at a time.
Let's start with the difference between **than** and *then*, and *he's* and **his**. And then there is *there*, and **their**.
Then we can move on to particular name spelling.

What are you on about?

I was torqueing about how people hear dont no there english.

Don't be surprised if Allan Fitzgibbon gets a wing spot with Roberts as the centre.

Allan Fitzgibbon is amazing. Go on his instagram and watch his highlights. He is fast and I reckon he could even beat Roberts in an 100m dash.

Hearing Madge is a big fan of what he's been doing at training.

I love a bolter , many a first grade have seemingly (in the general publics view) come from nowhere.
Fitzgibbon seems to have his work cut out for him if he is going to make it. His first job would have to be to make the Top 30, wouldn’t it?

Hope Jock gets some game time. He looks sharp at training. Zippy, chatty..and can kick goals.

**Tigers rookie halfback Jock Madden wants to bring the Cooper Cronk factor to Concord**

He’s been likened to Cooper Cronk and now this rookie Tiger is set to earn a chance to make his own mark in the NRL.

Wests Tigers rookie halfback Jock Madden doesn’t need any time to think when asked which playmakers he loved watching most and have had the biggest influence on his game.

“Cooper Cronk and Johnathan Thurston,” the former NSW Blues under-18s five-eighth quickly responds.

“It hurt watching them at Origin level but definitely at club level they really showed up for their sides and would rise on the big occasions.

“They loved the pressure of the game, they always dominated the game.

“When it was neck-and-neck they could come up with the big play and would win the game for their sides.”

Madden, a KFC SuperCoach cheapie, is hoping the endless hours spent analysing the premiership-winning halfbacks will help edge him closer to a starting place in coach Michael Maguire’s side in 2021.

With Benji Marshall not re-signed and Josh Reynolds released to Hull FC in the English Super League, Maguire has indicated Adam Doueihi and Luke Brooks are his first choice halves.

But Madden has an opportunity to push for a starting spot in round one against Canberra on March 14 with five-eighth Doueihi serving a one-game suspension for a shoulder charge from last season.

Madden is determined to be a regular starter for the Tigers.

“That’s a massive goal of mine and I’d really love to see the club make the finals this year and be part of that too,” Madden said.

“But it’s still pretty early, there are a lot of players there, you have Adam Doueihi and Billy Walters, who’s injured at the moment but I’m sure he’ll be back for the start of the season. “All of those players have done a lot in the game already.”

Madden likens his style of play to that of Cronk, with strong organisational skills and highly developed short-kicking game.

Luke Brooks believes Jock Madden is ready for the NRL.
Brooks said that Madden, 20, was ready for the rigours of the NRL.

“He’s got great game management, kicking game and he runs the ball. He’s really tough too. A couple of the big boys get into him at training and knock him around and he always gets back up,” Brooks said.

“Jock is going really well, he’s a great player. He didn’t get to play any footy last year because reserve grade was cancelled so I know he’s itching to get out there.”

The halves puzzle at the Sydney Roosters is a little less clear than at Concord with a slew of young playermakers vying for a place alongside Luke Keary after halfback Kyle Flanagan was released to join Canterbury.

Sam Walker, 18, another of our KFC SuperCoach cheapie prospects, is in a four-way battle with Lachlan Lam, Drew Hutchison and new signing Adam Keighran for a starting spot.

Walker, the son of former Brisbane half Ben Walker, has been described as a teen prodigy known for his acceleration, footwork and game management skills.

“We’ve got a massive halfback stock, we’ve got Sam Walker, Lachie Lam and Drew Hutchison, who are all super capable guys,” Sydney Roosters backrower Angus Crichton said.

“I’d back any of those boys in that position to take that six or seven role depending on where Keary plays.

“I’ve played alongside the older boys Drew and Lamie but I’ve trained alongside Sammy and he’s super impressive so I have complete faith in however they choose to fill that spot.”

there's only one Cronk, and his name is Johnny.

The last bloke we had who was likened to Cronk was a fish out of water playing 7, at least Madden is a half back

I like the way Madden plays, and as i said in earlier posts i think he will be a regular before mid season,.He's the agressive and nippy type of player that i think we need, his short kicking game will be a big plus.

Interesting article, for what it eludes to without calling a spade a spade.
Chooks had 5 halfbacks all learning their trade from Cronk. They now have 4.
WT have always had just the one, so to apply some performance anxiety we bench him and play a 1, 6 or a 9.
If Madden is as good as his building reputation, are we really looking for him to play 6?

Why not ? 1/2 and 5/8 play almost identical games today. He's been in the halves since he was knee high to a grasshopper(hope thats PC correct in this stupid world) he has great honors in rep games at a junior level. He's tough and a nippy runner, not a manufactured player with a great kicking game.

agreed
last time i saw him play was the trial at penrith last year but i was quite impressed

The number on Brooks' back or Doueihi or Madden's back is irrelevant. Brooks plays left side, Doueihi and Madden right side. It's nice to have Madden available eight now. He's a great propsect for WTs.

Big question from me , I've only seen Madden play once ...but what is his defence like ????

He plays Rd 1 ...it is Canberra ....they have an extremely large , mobile pack ....they will send a lot of traffic his way

Why I keep leaning towards Mbye at 6 Rd 1 .....their attacking kicking game (bombs ) aren't as brutal as some clubs
