I watched the trial, and thought Madden looked good. Considering he has not played for over 12mths and is 19 what do people expect? Or is this just the Doeihie fan club protecting their favourite boy. I think both will have a good year.

Why is it a fan club just because it’s a differing opinion?
I thought Madden was very rusty bordering on poor. I’m looking forward to seeing what he brings this week now he has that ‘first game’ out of his system

Kicking game was very good. Threw one bad pass.

Showed he can lead a team around the park.

I was happy with his efforts

Mate I totally respect your opinion as different to mine but he threw many poor passes. You are probably highlighting the forward pass in the third quarter but I watched him throw many that did nothing for his outside many apart from put them off balance. Also did not think he led the team around. But I’m really looking forward to watching him again because he hasn’t played a game for a long time

Watching live I thought he was rusty as hell but watching the replay i though he offered good structure.

Definitely not saying he was perfect but our best half is Luke Brooks. He doesn't have that much to improve to reach that level.

Different kind you f player. The Luke Keary comparison is very accurate

Ok so let’s say he led the team around well. That makes Sunday very interesting. Brooks is saying it’s his job to lead the team around- from both sides of the ruck as he sees fit. That means madden should be playing a heads up, running game from 5/8. Looking forward to see how it plays out.
Note: please don’t reply with a derogatory Brooks comment - I get it ?

All good.

Yeah this week is a different role. One I think may suit Madden and where he is in his development and recent footy

Agree mate - I’d love to see his running game - ala Keary as you alluded to

Imagine Fitzgibbon would be very disappointed with his exclusion.

Its pretty understandable after his game last week.

I dunno..i think it's better to trial guys who are going to play NRL in the early rounds in an NRL trial since there is only 1 ..sounds radical I know..

State Cup also trials beforehand..I'm sure those guys will get extended game time in that game..if they did back up or even Roberts-Davis..wont see a lot of game time in the NRL Trial..

I don't know why people are so quick to write Fitzgibbon off.

It's not understandable when Tyrone-Roberts is picked.

And it sure won't be when he's at another club killing it ala JAC/Koro.

Like I keep saying, he has the arrogance to be in first-grade, he's not going to dwell on a drop ball. His game last week wasn't even that bad, he had hardly any opportunity to show what he can do at the end of a backline movement, and the darts he took were strong.

I don't think too many are writing him off just yet.

He has his chance in Cup to show what he has got - I'd love to see him do well that's for sure.

There will be Flegg boys coming through in a number of positions as the season progresses so they will be looking to impress also. Players like Rizk and Stevanovic will improve with every game after a year off.

We shouldn't forget that a number of them will most likely get a chance at Cup at some stage even though I have to admit the Cup squad looks as strong as I've seen it for several years. Competition at all levels is a very good thing and nobody should rest on their laurels.

Not me. Ok, I didn’t like the way he strolled back to the defensive line with back at a ball runner, because it looked like he couldn’t give a hoot about the ruck, but the guy is a real talent. I’ve seen guys without talent play rep footy, but never guys without a strong desire to do so. I like Madge’s style, he seems to be a coach who wants players to pick themselves.

A little background on Fitzgibbon. Playing wise.
His been a Ron Massey Cup / Sydney Shield player most of his recent career since coming over from Sevens Rugby.
Was promoted to about 4 games up in NSW for Penrith Panthers in 2019.
For him to secure a NSW cup contract and play the full year in one team at that level is a step up in his development.
Don’t also forget that he is on a train and trial and Geo has confirmed recently after talking with Hartigan that the Train and Trial guys are available for NRL selection from round 11 without justification or exception.
This pretty much positions him in a outside top 30 cover position very similar to a dev contract.

I glad Tuki Simpkins is named in NRL trial team. He appears to have what we need in a lock.

I would like to see Twal start on the
Bench as our starting pack is top heavy with experience whilst potential bench for R1 looks light
On with experience.

Bench
Simpkin - hooker
Twal -. Prop/lock
Stefano -. Prop
Seyfarth or Miekeke - prop

Our two wingers are players to watch. Scolari I always liked and Hill is a former Aust Under Age Touch footy rep from Holy Cross Ryde.

Timanu Alexander is a new face in the centres.. The Knights won't be happy as he is one of theirs from All Saints Maitland and Aust Schoolboys rep.
