**CORRECTION...**
Apologies... thought this was Fonua Pole but is actually Christian Ma'anaima, a 20-year-old prop from Newcastle. Supposed to be the real deal and was apparently close to playing NRL in 2021.

Unsure if he's signed to join the Top-30 or is on a train-and-trial deal etc.

Took this from the Knights player profile pages:

Born in New Zealand, Ma’anaima moved to Australia at the age of 15 to enter the Knights development system.

Ma'ainama impressed so much that he was signed to a three-year NRL contract, starting with a year in the development squad in 2021.

An intimidating presence with a strong offload, the Junior Kiwis rep has a bright future as one of the NRL's brightest young forwards.

With a full pre-season alongside the likes of Daniel Saifiti and David Klemmer now under his belt, Ma'ainama will be one to watch in 2021.

..You would think if he had a 3 year NRL contract with Newcastle, that he would have been offered at the very least a development contract here to get him to make the switch.

I guess we need to understand why Newcastle have let him go? Seems strange, but hopefully a great gain for us?

It happens at all clubs including ours, you can't hold on to them all.The only important thing is the player you get needs to be a better fit for the club than the one you let go

Agree, but he apparently had big raps on him and probably hasn't played much lower grade due to Covid, so maybe there is or isn't an issue?

With josh king moving to Melbourne I would of thought he had a fair chance at newcastle.

He actually looks like he has put on a bit.

Been seeing Joey Oporto during off season?

Maaybe he is bulking 😅

Any info on the club's plans for Aden Perry, Kitione Kautoga as well as Ogden. I thought I read something a month or so ago that Aden Perry would be training with the squad over the summer.

so after running through who has a spot in the Jersey Flegg and Ball sides, these are the players actually competing for contracts.

Logen Dillon, Ben Stevanovic, Brandon Webster-Mansfield, Rua Ngatikaru, Billy Stapleton, Junior Pauga, Liam Scolari, Iverson Fuatimau, Austin Dias, Tom Freebairn

how Dillon, Rua and Scolari haven't been wrapped up on development contracts is puzzling for mine. all three were standouts for our Flegg side last year and should've been re-signed long term.

We are possibly holding pout on offering more development contracts until after pre-season as from memory clubs can have 5 or 6. Our deals seem to include transition into Top 30 after 1-2 seasons (I wonder if that arrangement will continue) so we have to get the decisions right.

Christian Ma’anaima from Newcastle and Tyrone Roberts from St. George training with us too.

Ma’anaima would be train-and-trial or even Top 30.

I would of had ogden on a development deal and pushing for 1st grade nezt season

Unfortunately wont happen due to Hartigans mishap

I don't believe they will include top 30 guarantees anymore.

Trey Peni
Captain of the Keebra Park State High School team in 2020, the strong and aggressive outside back played SG Ball with Balmain Tigers and now gets an opportunity with Wets Tigers.

Peni's one is missing an S in Wests..

I'm going to call him "Very William" from now on

Because Geo making mention of Trey Penis, sounds French, and Willy is a polite way of saying doodle without getting in trouble from mods

"*Très*".

The latter would depend on which moderator. And which poster.
