“The only rule change we’re going to make is that when you’re inside your own 40m line and a defensive team is offside, it won’t be six-again, it will be a penalty,” V’landys said.

This is a start. Should also be for ruck infringements as well. It’s clearly being used as a ploy to lock teams in their own half.

Should be the other way round. 6 again only inside your own 40. It’s a garbage rule, probably the worst of the last 5 years which is saying a lot.

The good teams know how to exploit the rules. You start sending players to the sin bin for blatant intentional foul play or slowing play down is the only way to stop it. They should be yellow carded for first offence and when they come back on and they do it again for a similar offence then there off.
Teams, supporters and officials can argue as much as they want, to stop it, the team suffers and or the player/s are hit in the hip pocket.
If it's not blatant, then a penalty is sufficient.

If they enforced the sin bin for repeated infringements whether 6 agains or penalties it would soon clear it up..

Until that happens Coaches will push the limits to gain advantage.. having a player or 2 on the sideline for 5 or 10 mins would force tactical changes

Bar an extra 20 metres that's what the rule is. 6 again outside your attacking 40m.

Really happy with that, frustrating as when we get a new set and still kicking on the last from our 20m line.

Sure it says a lot about us, but gaining some yardage from a pen kick to touch gives us a little momentum at least.

6 again rule should be scrapped. Refs too happy to blow it, whereas they think a bit longer/harder whether to blow a penalty or not. I don't mind if a team that is under the pump gives away a penalty to get some air back in the lungs, knowing that they will concede 2 or be defending again, up the field a bit, but with a bit more energy. Gone too far towards touch footy with this rule in place.

You can change the rules anyway you like but when it comes down to it you have an inept bunch of referees that enforce them in whatever way suits them best

Spot on. Refs will manipulate any rule in the game to get the desired outcome for their employer.

Would love to see the 2021 stats on teams with the most 6 Again calls against them.

Cognitive bias aside, I watched a lot of games and it seemed the tigers would get pinged more than others, and sometimes for very minor indiscretions comparatively.

Sometimes the number of 6 agains don't matter remotely as much as the field position, tackle number and momentum of the set. Good teams knew when to give them away..

PVL too pig headed to admit his rule sucks so continues to make more crap rules to try cover it up

Moron. Won't ever admit he's wrong

Wasn't even just WT games. Watch plenty of other games during the rounds each week where certain teams just got bent over by the refs. They certainly have their favourites.

Some refs certainly seem to have their favourites and appear to make their decisions accordingly.Sadly the only ref who seemed completely impartial (Cechin) has now retired leaving the mafia running the show and making the decisions

Once those 6 agains start coming it becomes more and more difficult to stop them as fatigue and errors begin to kick in.

Unless a team is very fit, mentally tough and extremely well disciplined, this very often results in a team being over run, resulting in that dreaded score blow out.

Even with a one sided penalty count, a team has a chance to have a breather and get a bit of an opportunity to try and turn things around.

I have always thought that if you were going to bring in these sorts of changes to speed up a game, something was always going to give and at the very least you would allow an extra interchange or two to compensate for fatigue and injuries.

Apart from 40/20s, try-line/deadball, I hate rules that mean the position on the field changes the outcome.

Game is too complex.

You got to laugh. NRL head of football operations Graham Annesley to tweak 6 again rule to stop score blow-outs. How about evening the playing rosters by actually policing the so called salary cap; class players playing against fringe first graders influence score blow-outs.

That is too hard as it would take NRL auditors who would know what they are doing and have the cojones to enforce it.The NRL does not want to upset the favoured clubs
