2023 Israel–Hamas war

Palestine deserves to be free from the atrocities that Israel have been carrying out for many years now but it doesn't make what Hamas did justifiable. Was disgusted to see people at the Palestinian rally in Sydney chant things like "Gas the jews" & "Jews must die".

I also wish that Hezbollah would keep Lebanon out of it as Lebanon already has enough on its plate & the last thing it needs is another war.

It has been an ongoing tragedy since i before i was born 70 years ago,as always innocent civilians will be the victims on both sides. There certainly have been faults on both sides in the past. What happened yesterday in Sydney was both inexcusable and disgusting, the last thing we as a country need is neo nazis but they certainly were on show yesterday.
I am all for freedom of speech but there surely has to be limits on hate speech and more than a few crossed that line yesterday imho

It won't be resolved.

There's inhuman animals on both sides running the show.
One side slaughters innocent kids , women and old people and the other side cuts off electricity and food and slaughters more innocent children, women and civilians with nothing to do with the atrocities.

The leaders are all filth.

Hopefully a few of them have ended up on ASIO's radar.

No one wins this war. The innocent die and that will be the shame, The real problem this could escalate. this will draw other nations in.

Maybe some of those boofheads who protested and shouting gas the jews should sell up everything they have in Australia and leave but make sure you hand your citizenship papers in as well when they leave.

There is war.

And then there is slaughter.

The things we are seeing this week are reprehensable. Anyone offering support for either side's actions is misguided. For whatever history has occurred for either side, the current actions ARE NOT THE ANSWER.

This soap-box in me wants to shout 'this is what happens when you interfere in another nation's conflict' to the USA, UK etc.

The rallies in Australia need to be stepped on immediately. The fight CANNOT be carried over into this country. Anyone trying to bring the situation here needs to be shipped out.

It's very saddening.

This has been going on for too long.
It's hard seeing and reading about all the lives being lost.

Not sure how it will be resolved however I truly hope it can be achieved.
I think one thing our governments should not be doing is lighting up building in white and blue , 2 lots of innocent communities getting slaughtered and siding with one will only upset the other , both these countries have done some really shitty things not just one , i say we keep out of it and worry about our own backyard

Will never understand how people born and raised in Australia and have never stopped foot off these shores can get get off on bloodshed. Even if they are 3rd or 4th generation. They are still Australian. My background is Irish. I would have hardly cared growing up in the 70’s, and seeing the bloodshed between the Irish and the UK. Not my fight. And it isn’t these knuckleheads fight either.

I have family members who are multi-generational Australians who would be supportive of Palestine. You can't just ship them out.

Should we ship out any Jewish person who supports Israel ?

I don't have any answers to this situation and I find the anti-Semitic comments disgraceful.

I do know that until Israel drops it's hard right tough guy attitude this will be an ongoing problem.

Trust Earl to have the worst take on this.

Hamas storm into Israel, intentionally slaughtering civilians at a music festival, beheading babys, raping women, killing kids, taking women and children hostage and its Israels 'Tough Guy attitude" that is a problem.

No- support is fine. But don't be marching down streets, cheering & setting off fireworks because you watched a video of an Isreali women, naked, broken, in the back of a ute, paraded around town.

Everyone has a right to opinion & belief.

BUT- you leave the conflict overseas. If you can't, for whatever side, for whatever conflict, for whatever belief- take it with you on the way out.

We are not a country that celebrates slaughter. Anyone that does, is welcome to do so, elsewhere.

Do you know any Muslim people ? I have family members who live in Saudia Arabia and Lebanon as well as Australia because they don't like the western culture here. They grew up here but go overseas to live especially when the kids are young. They send their kids back to go to high school here but they send them to Muslim schools.

There whole identity is bound up in their religion. They hate everything western. They hate vaccines. They hate trans. They hate the gays.

One of the nicest guys I know who is married to one of my nieces family is from Palestine. He is much more moderate but I assume he is supportive of Palestine.

To address just one line- about multi-generational Australians.

IF a multi-generational Australian, or ANYONE AT ALL, wants to celebrate in the streets because of a slaughter going on elsewhere, my feelings remain the same.

You are welcome to celebrate elsewhere. This is not a nation that celebrates slaughter.

You stated ship them out. You can't do that mate. This situation is also not one sided. I heard the Israeli minister of defense basically state he was going to commit genocide in Gaza.

People are angry and rightfully so.

Personally I think people should be able to protest against climate change and against the way women are treated in Iran etc.

I'm not supportive of anyone who is anti-Semitic. I have friends who are Jewish.
