2024 Backline

Hadn't seen anything of Lobb, so decided to look up some highlights. In context, it's just one game and it is reserves, but he scored 3, with 2 of them being pretty difficult.

Can see the attraction to his potential, but you're right, he's untested and unproven, so we shouldn't expect much.

What stood out most was how Sullivan dominated.

Bud looked hot there... Good footwork, good ball playing right at the line, cut Outs... In & always, dummies ... A bit of everyrhing

Lobb doesn't look as tall as I thought he was... Hope his defense is up to iy

I watched Walsh in a trial game for Broncs against a Qcup team and knew instantly he was an NRL star. The good ones arrive ready.
Yeah, I know what you are saying.

All these kids that we have and had over the years that were going to be superstars and when they debut, you think, what was all the excitement about.

I don’t tend to bag the team (or coach) that much because they don’t have the cattle, our top 5-6 players are strong then it falls away very quickly, so losing is expected. By us negative people but also by “experts”.

It’s those that assembled the poor roster that will continue to cop shit from me.

You talk about a poor roster like there is a simple and blindingly obvious strategy to get consistently get enough good players at our club while keeping the good ones we develop. There isn't. There never has been.

Ever the optimist Demps.
I reckon you’re a bit rough on Star, can’t even get a reserve grade centre spot from ya.
With better halves and earlier ball he will be much better. He’s as stating centre if you ask me….with Toupou, with Staines and Lobb on wings.

Naden to fill in against Cowboys when we need someone to take Feldt’s head off.

It Aint Necessarily So 😉 especially under that Voldemort Sheens e.g. Tedesco, Simona, Koroibate, Dwyer, Lui, Moltzen, Farah, Marshall, Fafita, Woods, Ayshforth, Lawrence, and perhaps now Bula, Pole else?

See what happens.

I reckon let Tupou waste away in cup and plan for the future.

Naden or Lobb on the wing.

I have no love for Nofo or Jnr
Benji reckons he’s from the Wayne Bennett coaching school. Bennett was pretty famous for dropping blokes who decided to leave the Broncos. I’d say Tupou and Noff will start in lower grades.

1. Bula
2. To’a
3. Naden
4. Olam
5. Tupou

That’s probably the best combination of speed, size, power and skill.

Lobb, Alaimalo and Faataape need to at least proves themselves early in the NSW Cup season before they can be considered. Nofoaluma excluded for obvious reasons.

Naden could be exchanged for Staines (To’a to centre) but I like the size/height Naden offers next to To’a rather than Staines.

Stains has to be on one wing for his sheer speed.

Hoping Naden has his body right and a better attitude this year to push for a FG jersey. Know nothing about Lobb so if he’s out pointing Naden in pre season then I’m happy to see him given the chance.
Naden makes too many mistakes in both attack amd defence. No idea why we gave him such a long contract.

Staines looks fit as in the photos. He would be a wing i think. Not sure the other.
