2024 Pre-Season

AD showed some improved defence in the world cup then came back and showed nothing in the club games.

Strange as....

He's looking solid in the training images but as everyone is saying, he's surplus.

Perfect world - he's a decent #14, with the ability to play anywhere 1 to 7, backrow, 9 and 13... like a more well rounded MCK.

Realistically though, as you said... too slow for the backs and too standoffish for the pack.

Very interested to see how the club manages this.
I think we have way too many options in the halves and probably looking that way in the centres too, now that Olam is here.

If he wants to play in the halves it's a new club. If he wants first grade at WT, he needs to transform to a back rower first and foremost and slot into 5/8, Centre or Fullback to cover injuries. I can see him being a Mitch Aubusson type, but needs a serious overhaul of his defence.

90% of the responses pretty much back up what I asked- what has he done to get the fanbase so offside?

I think expectation has been the biggest crime here- and that came mostly from....the fanbase. To the point where I suspect a number of exaggerated false arguments are raised- like his 'horrendous defence' as I've seen mentioned, or his 'lack of physicality'.

Same people that got stuck into Adam about not being physical enough praised Charlie Staines for being a rag doll for that Warriors winger.

Don’t think people hate AD.
People just have expectations for a player who can actually do something, request to be a main play maker & is getting paid alot to back it up.

AD wanted to play 5/8th and he was more off than on. His highlights was 90% him. He is a solo player v team player. Sure injuries played a part in some ways but in others his decision making was costly.

He lost me when he prioritized his mouth guard over a tackle when the team were getting thumped mixed with his terrible reaction times in reading defensive plays. He has talent but either wasn’t used correctly, doesn’t commit or is just another Mbye style who is potential but just doesn’t have that consistent next step to own a spot.

His attribute is as a ball runner his weakness is defensive efforts, link and setup. Which makes it hard to say what AD’s best position is 5/8, Center or forwards.

One thing is clear he isn’t viewed longterm here in the halves anymore so for him to stay he either has to own a spot or just be viewed as a utility but his defensive work rate/efforts need an big uplift.

I don't think anyone hates Doueihi, I'm not a fan - But I don't hate him....
I don't even hate the fan club and their posts here calling him the 'King'....
Just knew they were mislead.

Plenty of backtracking of late though I've noticed....

At this stage it is all on AD to prove he deserves to stay at the club.It certainly would not be impossible for him to do so but he has to show an awful lot more than he has so far.At the moment he would be one of the first shown the door

His defence is atrocious... He'd be a literal turnstile, that said it is a lot to do with attitude and if he can find the passion and attitude his defence needs the same passion he seems to have for gays in school, then maybe he's a chance
he has the passion

No one dislikes him personally. The dislike for him isn’t as petty as it still is for Brooks. You want to talk about “hate”, there was a post about him deleted the other day that was absolutely disgraceful and could have jeopardised the forum, but I digress.

Nothing personal against AD. In fact, the total opposite. I always hoped he’d take over the captaincy reigns. His passion for the club is clear. But passion isn’t going to magically fix his legs. He’s on the cusp of being another Tim Moltzen. One more injury and he’s done. He should seriously consider walking away from the game, while he can still walk. Give him a job as a trainer or something.

If he could tackle , he’d be an amazing back rower . Ball skills of a half , strong running game , can hit a hole , and has an on the run kicking game , that can continue plays .
But he can’t tackle …. So yea I dunno .
Shame really . If he could tackle , he could claim an edge spot . I’ve always said if he improves his defence he could play origin .

Yep, we've all been saying the same thing for so long.

If he could tackle, if he could defend.
Lots to work on for him.
Otherwise, it's game over I think.

I think he can tackle. I've seen a few games where he lifts his intensity significantly and tackles quite strongly. Other games he looks timid and is horrible, but he has it in him to hit aggressively IMO. His decision making at 5/8 and in the centres is bad as he always turns his shoulders in. That would be fixed if he played lock, but not sure it would be fixed if he played backrow. I remember Luciano used to turn in a lot and cause problems for our outside men.

If his defence was in order he plays centre for Australia. What was that game at LO when he went beserk in the second half, drawing, passing, setting up tries at will. Can you imagine if he had Koroibete's heart?

Doesn't matter at centre anymore. As long as you can drift sideways and follow the football. And power at contact seems to be more important than speed of the mark. Not that speed wouldn't be handy.
I happen to think he’s a centre when fit but not an elite one. Solid first grader.
