The Day 1 pre-season boys...

STANDING L-R:
Navren Willett, Iverson Matai, Jayden Sullivan, Sione Fainu, Jordan Miller, Solomone Saukuru, William Craig, Cayne Nicholas, Sione Vaihu, Fonua Pole, Lachlan Galvin, Luke Laulilii, Alexander Lobb.

SITTING/KNEELING L-R:
Brandon Mansfield, Heath Mason, Tony Sukkar, Brandon Tumeth, Samuela Fainu, Josh Feledy, Oliver Lawry, Christopher Faagutu, Kit Laulilii, Tallyn Da Silva, Triston Reilly, Marc Tannous, Keenan Lawandos.
There is great talent in this squad. It is good to see Oliver Lawry fit and ready to go. Willett and Lobb have great height.

This is where the RLPA rules are ridiculous. I'm sure they're intended for experienced NRL players to prevent an overly hard workload.
Here we have a kid who hasn't debuted yet being held back in his career. It's nonsense.

From the tigers website news article:

"The ten Wests Tigers players who have been involved in internationals are due at training later this month, some in early December. "

welcome back, boys.

delighted that Heath Mason has been retained. richly deserved and a player I'd expect to see make his NSW Cup debut later this year. Luke Laulili'i into the top 30 next year always seemed like a given but great to see confirmed.

Lobb on a development deal was a surprise but pretty exciting nonetheless. big athletic goalkicking winger who's got a great leap and can bend the line. I don't really have any of the train and triallists mentioned as potential first grade bolters, but in saying that I don't think anyone expected Jahream Bula to come on like he did last year.

given that most of the squad is due back November 20 I'd expect to see a fair amount of player movement and retention done before then. the Blore / Olam swap comes to mind and shopping around guys like Simpkin, Nofoaluma, Tumeth, Doueihi and Kepaoa, plus deals (hopefully) for Tupou and Staines and possibly an early Christmas present in the form of Jarome Luai.

I am very quick to question a player’s commitment (in a negative way) so I want to be quick to praise a player’s commitment in a positive way. Hearing Bud wasn’t due at training until the 20th but was there today is brilliant. Just by putting himself there today speaks volumes of where he wants to go. I am not getting carried away but great start to his Tigers career. Its these little things that rub off on others that can turn into bigger positives. It immediately sets standards that the younger blokes will look up to. Isn’t Kit going to be an absolute wrecking ball when finishes growing.

It’s a very positive start isn’t it. Hope the kid nails it he has alot of potential which normally doesn’t go well here

Also credit to AD as well being at training. He has ages to go recovery wise and doubtful to play next season but turns up to day 1 of preseason.

I forgot about AD. He was all smiles as well. Again those little things reflect attitudes and commitment which rubs off on everyone.

Seeing Willet and Lobb, it looks like the club has learned we have been undersized for over a decade. Finally.

Oliver Lawry also came highly regarded and looked OK from what I saw. Glad he is still around although opportunities for him may be hard to come by.
