It depends on what happens next year... what gets carried on.
Like, our first match against the Knights this year..., we were clearly a team that didn't know how we are going to win games. There was not much in our game or shape that was carried over from 2024. It felt like a new team. We sussed it for a bit early on, our game against the Dolphins was fantastic, then Galvin left and then it just took too long settling the noise down and finding out a way to win again. That we could eventually do that was a gutsy result and earned us a modicum of grudging respect, but only with our 3 spoons as the latest benchmark.
Maybe having a more experienced coach or a superior tactician we'd have sussed a few things quicker, but a Justin Holbrook can't recruit like Benji can, and we've needed the recruiting more. We don't get the May brothers and Luai with Madge as our coach. Those additions have been the difference.
But if we turn up next year, and nothing that we seemed to have learned from this year carries over, if we're still fumbling around figuring the big things out -- again, and playing like a team of strangers in the early rounds, than this year was a waste of time, and the coaching is no good. I don't expect us to win every game, I want to see us finessing the foundations we built this year into the finals.
