A fighting finish from the Aussies 🇦🇺

The team made up of Ebony Lane, Chloe Mannix-Power, Monique Hanlon and Torrie Lewis raced to 4th in the Women’s 4x100m Relay Final, with Georgia Harris playing a crucial role in the Heats.

Clean changes all-round gave Lewis the opportunity to chase down the field on the home straight, but Australia ultimately ran out of track, finishing just behind the bronze medal position.

Jemima Montag completes a three-peat in the women’s 10,000m race walk - WOW!
Jemima claimed her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold in the women’s 10,000m race walk, stopping the clock in 42:13.40 after a dominant final kilometre to set a Games record and a new personal best.
Rebecca Henderson completed an Australian podium sweep in the event, claiming bronze.

WHAT. A. RACE!!!

Lachlan Kennedy, Joshua Azzopardi, Calab Law and Rohan Browning have just produced an absolutely sensational run to win Commonwealth Games GOLD in the Men’s 4x100m Relay!

The Aussie quartet lined up:

Lachlan Kennedy

Joshua Azzopardi

Calab Law

Rohan Browning

Running from lane eight, Kennedy got Australia off to an absolute flyer before Azzopardi and Law kept the Aussies right in the fight.

Then the baton went to Rohan Browning for the anchor leg.
And what a job he had ahead of him!

This was a seriously stacked field featuring some of the biggest sprinting nations in the Commonwealth, including Jamaica, England, Nigeria, Ghana and reigning Olympic 4x100m champions Canada, who had seven-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse running the anchor leg.

Browning held his nerve and charged across the line as Australia stopped the clock at 38.07 seconds.

GOLD FOR AUSTRALIA!!!

AND - there was even more drama after the finish.

Canada, with De Grasse on the final leg, appeared to have crossed the line in second, but were subsequently DISQUALIFIED - promoting Nigeria to silver and Ghana to bronze.

The final podium:

AUSTRALIA - 38.07

Nigeria - 38.12

Ghana - 38.13

Just 0.06 seconds separated the entire podium!

For Lachlan Kennedy, it’s another medal after his brilliant silver in the individual 100m, while for the Australian men’s relay team, this is a Commonwealth title more than half a century in the making.

What an absolutely enormous moment for Australian sprinting!

Australia’s Cameron Myers picked up Silver in the Mens Mile, clocking 3:55.26
Great determination in a choppy final.

The Australian mile record holder produced a perfectly timed charge over the closing stages, surging to silver and adding another medal to Australia's tally in Glasgow.

A tough one to take for the Australian Diamonds.

After giving everything, they’ve fallen short, 45 - 46, against a determined Jamaica side and will now turn their attention to the bronze medal match against England on Sunday.

One more chance to finish with a medal in the Bronze Medal play-off.
