WHAT. A. RACE!!!
Lachlan Kennedy, Joshua Azzopardi, Calab Law and Rohan Browning have just produced an absolutely sensational run to win Commonwealth Games GOLD in the Men’s 4x100m Relay!
The Aussie quartet lined up:
Running from lane eight, Kennedy got Australia off to an absolute flyer before Azzopardi and Law kept the Aussies right in the fight.
Then the baton went to Rohan Browning for the anchor leg.
And what a job he had ahead of him!
This was a seriously stacked field featuring some of the biggest sprinting nations in the Commonwealth, including Jamaica, England, Nigeria, Ghana and reigning Olympic 4x100m champions Canada, who had seven-time Olympic medallist Andre De Grasse running the anchor leg.
Browning held his nerve and charged across the line as Australia stopped the clock at 38.07 seconds.
GOLD FOR AUSTRALIA!!!
AND - there was even more drama after the finish.
Canada, with De Grasse on the final leg, appeared to have crossed the line in second, but were subsequently DISQUALIFIED - promoting Nigeria to silver and Ghana to bronze.

Just 0.06 seconds separated the entire podium!
For Lachlan Kennedy, it’s another medal after his brilliant silver in the individual 100m, while for the Australian men’s relay team, this is a Commonwealth title more than half a century in the making.

After the heartbreak of the semi-final, the Diamonds responded the only way they know how - with grit, pride and unwavering belief.
Bronze isn’t the ending they dreamed of, but it’s one they can hold their heads high over. This group will be back.
