2026 pre season

Some preseason club/fan politics:

In the last week, I've noticed a change in tone from a certain group of people on some of the Wests tigers social media pages. All of 2025 they were happy to post content inciting division and outrage, whilst others would encourage and feed off it.. Now theres a call for unity and not to get involved in rally's. One of the regular offenders is even posting how much he likes the orange jersey and white shorts.

Call me skeptical, but there's no way that this "just happened" and they all had a shift of mindset at the same time.. I don't believe they believe what they are saying, and even if they do... Why now? What's prompted it?

I have no interest going round in circles as to what happened in December, but we still need some answers to understand what's happening now and what happens next...

- What's going on with the rest of the board?
- What was the outcome of the so called investigation into our former CEO?
- Why does this change in tone from these folks feel coordinated?

I am conscious we are falling victim to the fast news cycle and no one's really asking any questions.... That it's all going to be swept under the rug and we find ourselves here again in a few years time...

So what is actually going on?

Have a beer and watch some Tigers highlights from last year. Good and bad. Gotta let the team get on with getting ready for the season.

I doubt players are reading the forum. So discussing it here won't have any impact on them getting ready for the season. Not sure why there's this push for everyone to stop talking about it like it never happened... Like there's not a genuine chance of it happening again...

I'm glad your just a fan and not a player , it has clearly distracted you. Yes everything has gone quiet when normally our dirty undies are out for everyone and it's a hot topic but most just want to get on with the team ie the playing group not the office, most..Anyway all that sh.t will resurface if our season doesn't start off positive and it will be dragged back out from under the rug.in the meantime, definitely grab a Schooner 😉🍺🐯☝️

Players come and go, fans are here for life. I'm a member, I care about the long game for the club, not just what happens in the first few round of 2026.

Suggesting the sacking of board directors and the resignation of our best CEO in years was just a "distraction", is equivalent to ignoring a severe medical issue and choosing to drink schooners instead.

I am capable of enjoying the football whilst discussing whats happening with the owners.. maybe others aren't, and that's fine, they can tune out.. Maybe the HBG thread should be re-opened so those who want to continue to discuss it can do so.. and if you don't want to, then just don't go into the thread?

I am pumped for 2026.
But that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be skeptical about what's happening behind the scenes.

Not sure why that last reply is quoting me :/ Not my words moit.

It's infuriating for me too. It made my blood boil. It showed me that the HBG really don't care about winning anything, and that's what I hate the most. It's a really sad, bizarre and complex situation, but trying to have it out on here non-stop will change nothing in the real world.

I also respect that this is a private forum and consent to however the moderators choose to moderate. I think Wests Tigers Unite is a great option for those wanting to meaningfully protest.

Sorry, no idea how that happened. It was meant to quote @HUNT 101

But to your point around Wests tigers unite... After seeing what's happened over the last month (Australia's political climate) it is my opinion that any group that is meant to represent Wests tigers fans should have absolutely no affiliation with political parties. We only have to look at what's happening in the US with paid protesters and their agendas. It's completely out of hand now. Im sure glad we live in Australia.

I think everyone is just over it.
Why bang on about something that has past and won’t be changed anytime soon (also have nil control over)
FWIW I’m not a fan of what happened

Fair enough.

But I don't think everyone is over it.. It just appears that way because the thread has been locked, so those who want to talk about it, can't. I do agree that locking the thread was the right decision at the time - emotion was high and there was alot of BS being posted without any evidence. Those people should be held accountable and banned if they do it again.

But it's time we pick the conversation up and discuss what happened rationally.

I like Shaun Mielekamp, I really do... I'm positive about the football club under his direction...

But we lost Shane Richardson, one of the greatest administrations in rugby league.

We still have no explanation as to why the directors were sacked and reinstated..

This isnt like Benji making the wrong interchange in the heat of the moment and costing us a game... these decisions were well thought out... They were approved by executives over a period of time - not just overnight.

If people don't want to discuss it, that's fine man... They just don't click on the thread.. there's plenty of threads here I don't even look at.. so that is the choice of the individual.. But I think there's quite a few of us who want to and can do so rationally.

I think its time to reopen the thread... And if people want lie or start personal attacks, they get banned for a week - no exceptions. Very quickly people will be more cognisant of what they are posting.

Hell yeah I'm pumped too .. Us discussing,is just getting it of your chest it isn't gunna change anything it's out of our control even though the fans are meant to be the backbone I'm sure more will come of it down the track but till then....,as for Richo well he's a big loss and his replacement, who was always his replacement came in earlier, with a bit of luck he's better. 🍺🐯☝️

Does the team have a decent back up kicker, in case Adam leaves the field with injury?

Plus have they been practising end of game / golden point field goal scenarios, at end of training when they are fatigued, where 2 or 3 players get themselves into decent position to have a shot?

This is for when it happens in a game and they know what to do, where to be placed.

Masi kicks goals but I’d say Api will be the back up for Doueihi.

And yes, they have posted on tiktok Benji picking a random after training to take a shot at a field goal. Jeral took one and Bunty.
