Live Game Discussion
Bulldogs are a very average team that are going to be extremely hard to beat all year with the NRL refereeing support they're getting.
There's the obvious penalties, 6 agains, foul play interpretations , but there's also the more subtle allowing them to move way early in defence while holding the opposition back, forward pass interpretation, ruck speed etc.
Referees have never had such power in the history of the game, all so that the NRL can manipulate the narrative to their own commercial ends.

Said it all along, the dogs have cheated their way off the bottom. Granted they have got super fit and the attitude of the players is first class, but the line speed they have is impossible maintain all game week after week unless your offside. I have no idea why the refs have allowed and continue to allow it.

Their lack of class and x factor is the elephant on the room .the Raiders were diabolical with their discipline and ball control. Yet the Dogs didnt look like putting points on them. Yes it was poor conditions, but this isnt a one off. This is a regular thing.

Their consistent best player, is oddly the the one they need to upgrade in Tracey, or at least thats who they see as needing to upgrade.

Everyone knows Galvin is not a 7. Currently he is a 6, but his willingness last night to take tough carries highlights his future is at 13.

Like many have said, they are hard to beat and will make the 8, but they really have nothing outside of fitness and a free run with the refs

Dogs line speed was very evident last night but really with the cameras always on the ruck its hard to saynif theyre going early or not.
Galvin noticeably took on the line himself a.lot.more.last night a clear shift away from last year.
It really did seem like the Dogs got the rub of the green....if Papalii and Tapine are missing next week itll be tough for them

Masterclass from the best junior ever tonight .
0 try assists
0 line break assists
0 line breaks
9 missed tackles
Ahhh, but he's a work in progress now. When they signed him, it was all " superstar that's gonna make an immediate impact on our team. Doesn't matter that we are shuffling the team to fit him in . . . immediate impact baby" !
But now it's all " it's only his first off season, he needs to find his place in the team, we need time to gel new combinations, etc, etc, etc"
And lastly, I thought he spent the off season with Roger Fabri and was churning out amazing sprint times, with amazing improvement across the board ?

Never underestimate the value of having friendly refs.

Darcy Lawler would be a proud old referee to see what is happening today, having set the standard long ago.

That is the problem, you need to be at the game to see the real picture.

Commentators need to call it if they see it and highlight it by requesting some zoomed out wide shots to support it if it becomes evident.

Maybe Ciraldo can’t coach ?

It really does feel like the NRL is trying to hard to make the dogs successful, look at some of the crowds they had last year. 60k + for Good Friday and 55kish for Kings birthday plus averaged 30k+ for the year.. however I don’t think their roster is good enough to capitalise

Totally agree... the Dogs are constantly offside but the refs don't ping them for fear of being branded of "ruining" the game....the Dogs are also a grubby team, dirty players....

Ciraldo’s right hand was bandaged during the press conference, with the Bulldogs mentor revealing he sustained the injury during a bizarre incident in the coaches’ box.
“It was quite foggy, so we couldn’t see what was happening,” Ciraldo recalled.
“We tried to open the window and the whole window smashed on us. Glass all over us.”

I liked it when the Raiders forced a knock on, which the ref called, only to get the call from the bunker that the Raiders were offside. Ten minutes later, dogs knock on in front of their own posts and an offside player dives on it. No penalty. Who doesn't know the rules, the ref or the bunker? Both missed it.
