The only thing stopping Latu being a success in the halves is getting through 80 minutes consistently.

I’ve said this before but I hope he changes his tackling technique or he’ll never consistently play without concussions or suspension.

Defending in the middle vs edge will make a big difference.

He won't back down against guys like Fifita, Olakuatu etc.

He needs to work on his front in tackling technique but I hope he just focuses on attack. Learn to work your numbers, get Samuela to run the right lines, work in your kicking etc.

I was at the GF watching Averillo having a blinder at No 6
So for me the Averillo / Douehi combo is best
Latu is No 14 utility but the way we get injuries imagine he will get a few starts in the halves

It’s a tough one because we finally have two first grade quality centres (although injury prone) but one of them is potentially a better 5/8

I think we’re coming to grips with a pretty lacklustre halves combo of

7. Madden/Fainu
6. Doueihi

But if our 2nd rowers and centres stay injury free (big if) it’ll make all of their jobs so much easier

Will no doubt be a bit of a shootout for halves sport over the offseason. I'd love for Latu to just develop as a half in reserve grade with some solid reps and game time without injury. He has so much to learn having missed so much time over the last few years. That being said, we are light on in the halves and is every chance to start.

Benji has always backed Latu to be our half moving forward. Subject to injury I hope he follows thru on that.
Plus if Andrews develops in the off season , I’d run with him at 6 as he is a similar age to Galvin when Benji promoted him.

Jock Madden - fringe player has moments but not consistent
Latu Fainu - showed glimpses of talent
Javon Andrews - not a first grader yet
