2027

We’re in for a super rough season, horrid roster with no depth, no games at Leichhardt so that’s at least 2 wins gone (and less fun factor), like a bazillion games a Campbelltown so we will be lucky to win more than 3 or 4 home games all year, Vegas vs Melbourne in round 1 where they will rack up a score in what’s probs Bellamy’s last year, I reckon we will be anchored in the bottom 4 by round 10, but no chance of the spoon cus the bears will lose by 50 every week
You could back date this post 10 years and it would still be relevant today (sigh!)

The bears first win will be when come to town

The thing is, that side looked a top 4 side for the first 10 rounds. It’s baffling how it’s turned to manure so quickly. The world’s greatest scientists would struggle to explain what happened.

So dunno man. I just don’t understand what happens with this lot. If our best13 stay fit we probably make the 8. There’s stuff all back up and they all look cooked. Oddly enough Luai going is probably the best thing.

Mate they didnt look anything like a top 4 side in attack. Defence, yes, but attack was terrible

Yeah I think the way the ruck was reffed had a bit to do with it, no doubt helped us.

And we came out the blocks full on, along with a few injuries we hit the wall

It happens every year. Some drama happens and we fall off a cliff mentally and lack of effort shows across the entire side. Anyone would think that they tap everyone not wanted on the shoulder at the same time.
Then the mantra about next year and holidays must be on their minds.

Still believe we are closer than people think.

We are sifting through chaffe still. Look at the players actually off contract or leaving (Luai excepted). Pretty much all of them are players we have lamented as being not up to the standard.

So long as the club uses the opportunity to strengthen the Top 30, our first half of the season shows what we CAN be.

I like Luai. But it is becoming painfully obvious that Luai & Doueihi cannot create enough points. Both are fine players individually, but both need a creative playmaker to lead. Is Latu that guy? I think so. Is Javon Andrews? Also looks like it. We will most likely hit our premium side when those 2 are 6 & 7. So in that instance, losing Luai is something of a step in the right direction, eventually.

Sam Fainu & KPP proved that big, athletic backrowers are the go. Luckily we also have Ethan Roberts on the books who looks likely. Sukkar, I think, has made strides. We could do with 1 more for depth (and allow Sam to moonlight in the middle on occasion).

When Royce Hunt was going well at the start of the year, our forwards were going well. May, Pole & Sione Fainu are pretty much locked in. Hunt, Afoa & Seyfarth fill the gaps. If Afoa &/or Hunt are lost, we need to find an alternative. Regardless- I think we need to add at least 1 or 2 more athletic middles for depth.

Twal @ #13 isn't your Yeo clone. That's ok. If we are LUCKY, we have that guy in Schuster. But, we can't rely on it. Can we be lucky? Either way, an alternative #13 is required. Could it be Lanyon? That would absolutely offer more versatility if it where.

In the outside backs, Averillo comes in to join May & Makasini & Herbert & Tupou. That isn't the worst group. Tavana, Turuva & Saukuru on the wings...we MIGHT need one more depending on Makasini/Tupou.

Bula backed by Attard- if we are a developing club, you HAVE to develop players. Attard looks dangerous with the ball.

Heyward should be the back-up to Api. Lanyon could certainly take some pressure off him too. This is still a weak spot, but strangely stronger with these 3 than we went into the season with Hope.

Madden & Mason as the 4th & 5th options in the halves are ok. We are lucky & unlucky to have 2 genuine promising halves come through together- they could both flourish but could also both struggle- but any player signed in front of them will only hold them back. So for mine- you run with Latu & Andrews, with Doueihi holding a spot until both own it, and then you can shift Doueihi wider to play like Burton does now at the Bulldogs.

So there you go- a winger, a backrower & 2 middles & I think we are a better team than 2026. And none of the guys added need be starters.

Our success will not come from outside the club, but within. Andrews, Fainu, Heyward...they are the keys. You just need to surround them with quality support.

Poor culture. Our season get sabotaged every year and our club is too weak to rise above. It was Galvin last year, now Luai.

Next year's drama has a high chance of sacking Benji if we start poor. Then it could be player backlash afterwards. Again, I hope I am wrong.

Chad is 5 years behind the mental state of the rest of the fans, but I admire the optimism.

I also admire how simple it all is: "a winger, a backrower & 2 middles & I think we are a better team than 2026" - Voila! the perfect solution! Where have you been the last 15 years? Does Shaun know you exist? Someone get this man a job - all our problems are solved if we just implement these ideas.

Another one - we also just need to sign Brad Arthur - that will change everything along with your unnamed signings and shifting Doueihi to play like Burton.

This is genius.

Same that’s what I’m predicting, or the fainus announcing they will be leaving for png. If the club wants to sack Benji they should do it at the end of this year so the players have the off season to settle down, mid year next year and you can bet we will finish in the bottom 4

Like your optimism @The Chad & am on your side with this.

Firstly, the doomsayers about the Fainus leaving is doing my head in. The only reason everyone is getting worried is due to the fact Samuela & Latu have yet to extend & media love publishing possible exits from the Tigers because we rate so high in clickbait stakes.

I cannot see a world where they do not extend!

Secondly, Benji needs to make then tough call and play Latu & Javon in the halves at least for the final 4 rounds. Either create a new lock role for AD to give him some reps (both running lock & 2nd sweeping fullback role) or send him for early surgery.

Thirdly, Benji needs to sit down and sort out what's going on in Terrell's head.

15 years of no finals! If you told me in 2011, that we wouldn't play finals for the next decade and a half, I would tell you to get lost. How much longer of no finals series do you think the tigers have?
