3-2-1 3 2 1 vs Dolphins

Bird is the unsung hero. Nobody thought much of his signing. Broken, slow and was only a matter of time before he would have a stint on the sidelines again

His impact off the bench along with Hunt has swung both games enormously, and his value of filling in at centre when Skelton went off was big for us
I was huge on his signing but yeh his injury history was a.concern....that said anyone can get a serious injury in.thia game rookies vets the lot

I find it really hard to pick a 123 on yesterday's game...so many good performers...Luai again a lot of very crucial tackles.
Turuva and Douehi in the 3/4s strong.
May and pole along with hunt huge again...all had good games

I'm going
3 Api....loved the try
2 May
1 Pole

3 Api - quality
2 AD - the goal kicking and improved attitude in D saved at least one try and shut down two other possible try scoring opportunities.
1 Turuva - great energy.

I am realy struggling with the love for AD based on his performance. He kicked a few goals and played the system in Defence. He isn't making great decisions, he is playing the system that has been developed.

A serious question for any that have given him points. Did you watch him off the ball at all? He makes no attempt to scramble, he gives up on the defensive play as soon as the ball is out of his corridor, he does not attack the ball if it is spilt, and he makes no effort to fight to his feet once tackled These are the 1%ers thatget you in the conversation for 3,2,1 consideration. AD is doing his job, but not anything more. His contribution to team success, apart from his goal kicking, reflects his current salary. He is fighting for a contract but is missing in all of the key effort areas.

Take Luai's fight to crawl for the ball after the kick or his try saving scramble as to what effort look like and contrast that to the AD looking at the spilt pill or giving no chase once the ball is past him. AD talks leadership and effort but dishes up dog poo. He did OK yesterday, but nothing more.

Good to see Pole in there, ran hard with a nice step, his game is growing.
Skelton also strong and reliable before injury, they gave him a good workout early and he came through it well.
Turuva a finisher, something we haven’t had for quite a few years.
Bula, a glider with good hands and tackle breaking ability.

Maybe you need to give him a bit more credit. His defensive decisions saved us at least two tries yesterday. He put in.
Not in my top 3 but not far out of it.

I agree that he made the right defensive decisions and he kicked a few goals. But those decisions are based on the up and in defence that we are playign in that area of the field. He did on the wing what Taruva shoudl have done to prevent the first Phins try. I'm not suggesting that he played poorly, just that his effort off the ball is the worst in the team. He didn't fight hard for anything off the ball; how that even gets you into the 3, 2, 1 discussion is astounding; however, some have given him 3 points over guys that fought hard.

IMO Luai flew under almost everyone's radar; but was the most instrumental player to manage the game!
His deft kicking , deep to get out of our half, high to promote a chance to regain or peg them in their quarter, chips for scoring chances and last ditch tackles. He managed the players around him and our field position. Repeat; under the radar, but not by the coaches I would imagine.
And off topic; why were we wearing our home game jersey for an away game? They looked great, but so does our away jersey.
Will our home game at Leichhardt be in our away jersey orange and black for a more traditional Leichhardt type colour? Curious on that decision?

I could find fault in everyone's game on Saturday if you want to go down that path. Can think of two errors of Luais off the top of my head without having to go looking for them - and APIs as well but he got my three points.
Be dismissive of the value of a goal kicker at your own peril in this competition.

Im guessing its Dolphins choice what they wear as its their home game and they wore mainly red so orange is too close to that...bit of a clash

Some players will have ordinary performances in every game it's not often you will get the perfect win, but to be playing below par and to scrap and fight your way back into it then run over the top of them shows great team character.
Looks to me that our culture is finally on the improve can't wait for the day we play to our full potential that will be a delight.

I'm not arguing that he has value as a goal kicker or that he is not performing his role well enough to hold his spot. I'm simply stating that he doesn't do the 1%ers that other are that would have him in consideration for man of the match. Off the ball his attitude is poor, even with ball in hand once he has made a run he makes no effort to get off the ground for a quick play the ball. I doubt there was a player on our team that didn't make an error; but they all fought harder in the areas that aren't just doing your job.

Points are awarded for impact on a game. He saved one certain try and shut down two other dangerous attacking raids and converted every try - to me that is impactful on the outcome of this game and overides the 1%'s in his overall game that you have identified that he needs to work on. Happy to agree to disagree on this one.

Luai's defence has been impeccable this year, however I find it hard to give Luai/Galvin any points as 3/5 tries were scored in the middle and our 5th tackle options were poor throughout the game. In the opposition 20, I feel they looked a little lost as well.

The middles and the bench get my points this week, but find it very hard to split them. Some of the sets with Turuva/Skelton chiming in, we were rolling down 50-60m with one out plays. It was brilliant!

Don't think 2nd year syndrome so much as new combos. He'll find his rhythm. Has still shown a couple of classy touches at times. Was a great move v Parra when he popped up on the right and put a move on to send Turuva in. Just hope injury not too bad.
I thought Sam was very good on Sunday. Much improved. Maybe not at his best, but I'll take that performance every day of the week.

I thought apis first stint was average but he more than made up for it in the second. May and Pole were immense

One of his play the balls was terribly slow, I remember thinking is he serious. Just looked tired, made me wonder if he’s fit enough.
