3, 2, 1 (Vs Dragons)

If people were serious, none of the backs should poll points today. They collectively squandered a heap of possession, field position and momentum through poor tactics and aweful ball control/skills.
The output of players 1-7 is the reason we lost today.

3 - Tamou
2 - Musgrove
1 - Ofahengaue
Forwards and the spine did their job. Wingers and centres had 8 errors between them, which cost us the game.
3 Tamou
2 Musgrove
1 Twal

If you lose a game where your forwards dominated and you were on top pretty much all game, your spine failed. They may have played ok individually, but they did not do their job today.

3 Brooks
2 Hastings
1 Tamou

HM Ofahengaue, Musgrove, Nofa.

Can’t remember when a team has lost the penalty count 8-1 and missed 56 tackles and walked off winners?
Are you giving the top 2 spots to our halves who couldn’t capitalise on an 8-1 penalty count with the opposition missing 56 tackles?

Spine can't always make up for the 1-5 short comings.

I think they created enough opportunities to ice the game but overall our reserve grade trashy backline wasn't good enough to capitalise

(Brooks cross field kick to Tuilagi no try, Brooks kick to AJ spilt over the line)

I felt like we went too sideways though, when it was obvious we were bashing them up the middle. Should have just focused more on the power game

They didn’t provide enough variety…5 hit ups and a bomb.
They didn’t create pressure and wear the defence down.
They starved our strong attacking side of the ball.
They continually went to the well of two inexperienced and weak players against one of the strongest centre/wing combos in the league.
There was plenty that they could have done today given the way their opposition played and they just didn’t. If that was the game plan, we need our on field leaders to adapt, change and play what’s in front of them. It clearly, clearly wasn’t working and no one changed it up.
That was a bad loss.

Wow, our forwards looked dominant.

Great great game by Joe O today. Dominant everywhere, good distribution and attacking threat, great effort.

Also, my usual praise for Twal.

And a great game by Tamou who had quite a few dominant tackles today.

Musgrove and Mikaele still scare me when on the field but both had solid games.

Liddle is no good.

and our centres aren't threatening enough.

Toa is a good fill in fullback in terms of being safe back there, but he's much better attacking at centre and doesn't create enough at fullback, so we need some sort of solution to that problem while Laurie is out.

3. Luke Brooks [ if tigers had won then he would have got MoM]
2. Alex Twal ~ effort
1. James Tamou ~ effort and showed a capt's dig

HM. Zane Musgrove showing a bit of agro and Jackson Hastings tried hard to get us going.

Don’t know if you noticed, but in the last quarter of the game our halves tired of trying to serve it up on a platter for the outside backs, preferring to have a go at the line themselves.

I thought all the forwards went well.

IMO Big Joe and Tamou have been great this season. Musgrove is on the way up.

Lack of attacking variety and lack of quality in the backline was the issue.

WT had enough ball to win the game. Difference between the top teams and bottom teams

That was good, but too little, too late.
Brooks has spent his whole career turning the ball back inside …yesterday it would have worked and he continually went outside to backs who were running across field.
They chose to go left all game when our most experienced back 5 member was catching a cold out on the right.
The correct play yesterday was to capitalise upon the middle charges of Tamou, Musgrove and Joffa…have Liddle run it more (did he scoot at all?) and put our backrowers through gaps on the edges. Our pack played well yesterday but could have been used even more than they were. Our backs were overused.
