Something funny that’s worth noting about Woods. Since he left, he’s playing under his 6th coach, and 7 in 2022 wherever he winds up. Funny given the reason he left was for stability.

And deservingly so. It is what it is after all.

At least he played finals footy.....
What have he done since??

I hate how he left and how he did it sucked, but those players all did it which was telling as to how bad our club was run.

I would take Woods back.
He would instantly be a top 4 forward in our squad.
He is playing decent footy and always has a go.
**We aren’t a club that can be picky** and if a nrl quality forward wants to join us for the price we are willing to pay (we don’t pay over) - we shouldn’t say no to it.

This is why we are in the predicament we are now. Panic buying and paying overs. Finally it looks like those days are over.

Nofoaluma says ?‍♂️

Lol, just envisaged Noff waving hello to Latrell as he runs towards him.

100% we just spent money because we had it.
Now we are spending it if deserved

WT'S look like there getting a strong junior base together that's where the future is we do not need to spend on players past their use by date

I hope they enjoy their retirements because they won’t be starting their lazy days at Wests Tigers.
We are not the shady pines retirement home for elderly footballers, even though some past signings may make it appear that way.

They have all played finals football. I don’t think they would be regretting their decision to leave. Pretty much every player that has left the Tigers over the last 10 years has gone on to better success elsewhere, either participating in the finals or winning premierships. That’s gotta be a massive negative for why it’s harder for us to retain/recruit star players. The young players just starting out see the Tigers as a good stepping stone to start their NRL careers, be seen, and then possibly get interest from a successful club. That’s the reality ATM.

Of course the irony being, had those that left stayed with us, we would have played finals footy on a regular basis most likely.

100%. It's always been my beef. The constant dribble about players leaving us and then playing finals footy elsewhere, when in reality had the core group stuck together here we very, very likely would have been part of the 8 for a few years.

I'd take both Taupau and Woods at the right price

Mad if you didn't ...imagine how strong our bench would be ..send Seafarth and Amone away

Fifita would probably come fairly cheap, but the expensive part would be building him that "other" dressing shed.

I’d have Woodsy back for sure

Fifita leaving wasn’t a choice. Sheens saw Matt Groat as the better prospect. He was also cut to make room for Adam Blair.

We were far from a good negotiating club back then. We were trying to move Gibbs on to Sharks to get him out of the squad off the books (thought he didn’t represent value anymore etc) sharks said only if Fifita comes with him.
How anyone can see that as a good deal is beyond me.

Woods for Packer (at reasonable rate) would be an upgrade.
Mr. T for MCK (at reasonable rate) would be an upgrade.
No to Fifita.

I’m not saying we should target him but Woods is still a quality prop doing what he did for us all those years ago. I think he made 46 tackles and ran 148m in a badly beaten side on Saturday night. If one of our props did that the cascade of orgasms would be heard from Mars.

Agree. Woods is actually playing quality footy at the Sharks. He would be a walk up starter in our side if be came back & would improve the side. Issue is the way he left. If you run a business and in the market to improve the squad & he is an option they would have to look at him.

I could be good at what I do and if I publicly slag off my ex-employer while I was in their employ they would look stupid for having me back.

But we still bought Farah back.

Yep...we bought Farah back...and we have now gone one step further and rewarded him by making him Club Ambassador ??? ???
I just dont get it.

What dont you get?
Farah is the clubs best Hooker next to Benny Elias. Jason Taylor forced Farah out due to Jason having a personality conflict. So we hired Manly's 9 and it was the worst decision ever. We bring Farah back and we dont SUCK at 9.

Oh yea the whole Benji, Farah please loan us 100k, 200k to keep the doors open.

Club is just not thinking long term. A player like Farah should have been progressed from 9 to a lock/second hooker role like Cameron Mcinnes or Brandon Smith play at the storm. But hey we had to have dramaz

In the Newcastle-Cronulla game, Frizell offloaded to Ponga to score the winning try. Woods was supposed to be covering the space Ponga ran into, but he was lazily plodding his way over. No way would we want that. We already have enough lazy plodders as it is.

Fifita is washed up. He's 20kg overweight and has a chronic knee issue.

Taupau, no idea what's going on with him. Don't watch Manly games unless Tom Trbojevic is playing. He seems to have lost a yard of pace.

Elias never played for the club.

Who started the myth about Woods being a good defender? He is actually one of the worst IMO. Doesn't hit strong as we all know but almost ever makes back to back tackles, always slow out of marker, doesn't have it in him to make cover tackles anymore and wrestle is getting taken out of the game. Woods' strength has always been stepping at the line and offloading- he's still OK doing that but I don't see him add much to our team.

Fifita will be retiring soon for sure.

Taupau seems to have fallen down mentally, still an ox but doesn't have the same brunt anymore. And unlike the other experienced players, he doesn't have it in him to lead the troops around.
