I think that if these 3 players have career best performances in 2022 we could breakthrough to the finals.
1. Zane Musgrave. Zane has flown under the radar due to injuries of late but now appears to be fit. An uncompromising no nonsense front rower who can stamp his authority in the engine room and tango with the best of the big boppers. He admits he owes the team for their faith in him but can the coaching staff extract that mongrel out of him??
2. Oliver Gildart. Oliver is an international rep player and when he's hot he's white hot, it will be interesting to see if he can bring that to the table in the NRL. The area where we were vulnerable in 2021 was letting outside backs run around us out wide, can he fix this?? Can he bring a less predictable attack to our team. Time will tell.
3. Liddle/Simpkin/Hodgson. Had to bracket these 3 because unsure who will be hooking but the tip is warming up to be Josh. If he can reproduce the form that he had when he first burst onto the scene with the raiders then we will make the play-offs, that's how much influence a modern day number 9 has on a team, his astute dummy half play keeps opposition guessing and he will bring our forwards onto the ball in the right places, he's a very smart footballer.
Obviously the whole team needs to step up big time but for now try to single out just 3 players that will make a difference between success or failure.
Thoughts?

Our season is doomed if we start with Garner and Luciano. I’ve seen more mongrel at a dog show.

Hopefully Blore transforms and grows into that edge role .

Papali'i would be a huge get

Agree mate, Blore gets plenty of raps on here, he’s still young but one game against Parra doesn’t make a player. Needs to show me more.

'Twas quite a game though.

Answering the OP though...

Musgrove could be the pack enforcer we need. Our own 'JWH', so to speak (I wish).
The more I think about it, the more I'm warming to Hodgson coming here, starting at 9 then, going into lock, allowing Liddle to come on with plenty of energy. With his knee and mind right he'll get back to/become the better than average hooker we have been counting on.
I wouldn't put too much pressure on Gildart. He may kill it for us, but I think it should be an existing player that needs to step up, rather than one that has just arrived. I would opt for Luciano. He wants his payrise....he needs to show more in defense. Less laughing, more hitting.

I like his aggression but agree his engine runs on fumes. If I was him I would be following in similar footsteps to Stefano in terms of professionalism, not Mcluciano

Stef looks to have rare natural gifts. Blore looks like a weapon, I’d love it if we had a real tearaway for him to learn his trade from. We need an enforcer.

I think someone like Cayless could unleash the next level of our young forwards , handy addition that’s for sure

I watched Cayless speak recently and he already sounds like Madge. A lot of talking in circles. The change needs to come from within the players minds IMO. Coaching is important but in reality, we just don’t have the roster.

@GNR4LIFE sometimes I wonder why you follow this club if you're so negative and pessimistic about everyone, surely it can't be good for your mental health. You continually write off every signing we make. Gildart is an England international player - regardless if he's the next coming of Christ or not he's an improvement on what we currently have.

Your pessimism is tiring, given you become condescending whenever someone disagrees with you.

I disagree with this post, but I respect your points. As I have said lots of time before, there isn’t lot to be optimistic about. As for my mental health, it could be better. I got bigger issues in my life than a football team. Not something to trivialise mental health over either.

Seems a lot writing off Gildart already , let’s hope he is good for us , something like a Schofield would be great

I'm thinking Ellery Hanley in his prime.

I hope you get on top in your battles mate. As someone else who is rather negative I’ll say this. You’ll struggle to find anyone more positive about the club when we start winning. It’s called PASSION!

You’re building up for a massive fall if your expectations of Gildart are that high. My lord.

In regards to Hodgson, if he can reproduce form seems to be the catch cry of 80% of our signings. Most 32 year olds coming off 2 knee reconstructions generally don’t reproduce their glory days. Again, don’t set yourself up for a fall.

Have u seen much of gildart mate?

I can’t even

This is so beyond frustrating.

Why is it frustrating to you that some people think an international centre might go well?

It’s not that, it’s me being questioned for having the temerity to think it’s a big step up for him. Why he’d be one of the 3 players mentioned in this thread immediately raises expectations too

I think you are often right but I'm trying to remain positive. The truth is we don't know until next year anyway.

I don’t get it. I’m not saying anything at all that’s unreasonable. Every opinion I give has depth to it, and has some attempt to explain why I have that opinion. I don’t just say we’re crap or player x is crap. If I think we are or a player is, i’ll say why. No one was holding back after the last round against the Dogs. So what’s the difference with what I’m saying?

That’s why I called him out about it he’s probably the most negative person on here

So what? Why does it bother you so much? People who have a more negative (ie realistic) view of the club don't ask people like you to stop getting excited over every little thing the club does. Let's remember the positive people on here have been wrong every year for the past decade.

If you don't like what people say on here just bloody deal with it.

You guys can be negative if you want that’s your choice it doesn’t bother me personally but a lot of people are always gonna call you out for just being negative and never saying anything positive and once we start winning again you guys will probably just pretend you didn’t say anything negative and act like you were positive the whole time throughout the finals drought

Doesn’t it go both ways though? If we start losing, like we have for the last decade, do we get an apology for getting attacked when our belief that we’re not that good is proven correct?

You and many others on here incessantly whinge because you are, for some reason, protective of a club that has disappointed you far more than not for it's entire existence. So if you want to have a whinge, maybe have a whinge at the club for letting you down. It's not my fault.

And when we're winning i'll be the most positive person on here. But we're not winning, and we haven't in over 10 years. And fyi, when we do start winning it doesn't mean the last decade hasn't been trash. It means that the club has turned it around, and i'll commend them for it. That's better than supporting every move they make, good or bad. So again, if you and others have an issue with the critical view me and others have with the club, then just mute us and move on. I'm absolutely exhausted with posters taking exception with what other people post. Just grow up and deal with it for gods sake.

Why should anyone apologise to you when all you do is bag players that haven’t even had a run yet? And I highly doubt anyone will apologise to either of you if they do their choice but I’ve got nothing to apologise for

Wanting an apology if the club plays shit is outrageous, grow up. You're free to be negative about everything just as we're free to point out your negativity.

I don’t want an apology, but there are double standards at play here. If we start winning, people like Avo and myself are told we’d pretend like we were never negative. But if we continue to lose, what’s it say about people like you? You’ll just start to feel the same and forget you were ever hard on others who saw it coming.

I don’t want one. An acknowledgement you were wrong though would be enough
