4 to 7 players facing the axe

What happened to this story. ?

Haven't seen or heard anything yet.

I think that 'sacked' may mean dropped and this will be -
Blair and pettybourne for sure

Thompson and Simona maybe.

Woods was bad but he ain't going anywhere and nor should he.

Russell Fairfax reporting 4 senior players to go,maybe there is something in this, something needs to happen though,we can't go on getting belted every week,Farah said we need the wests and balmain faction to stop arguing over silly stuff and get united.

im not sure if I am breaking any rules, if so delete it and my apologies, but heres a link to Fairfax on fox. Last 30 seconds or something.

Mmm I'm thinking…
Galloway, Ayshford, Lawrence & Murdoch Masila.

I think Moltz is safe, he did enough to impress pre-injury.

You are kidding about Moltzen surely.

Not a first grader by any stretch of the imagination.

Should have gone to Saints, except for the now departing Humpty Dumpty.

Up until his injury - he was one of our better performers.
You must be thinking about his rough patch last year :S

Moltzen is safe.
… Imo

You'd think Moltzen and Lote are morals. Moltzen's one appeal is his utility value but its hard to make a case that, in the mid to long term, he is worthy of a starting place. Lote is a simple money to output equation.

Not sure if Utai counts. He could be surplus to requrements. I do think some of the criticism of him is a bit OTT. Overall he's been a pretty good performer for us and good value.

Ayshford I think is on borrowed time. He had one really good patch for a while (I was watching some 2009 highlights the other night and he was on fire) but it's just too long ago and his current form is poor. He seems to have gone the way of Dean Collis.

Lawrence I still hold hopes that he can come good again. Clearly he is a super player when right and as a local junior I'd like him to have every chance. It concerns me that his injuries may prevent that obviously I do not know what the WT medical staff do. If they think his injuries will stop him ever regaining top form then fair enough.

Other than those players the big question is on Benji. Sure Brooks and Moses are super talents (Personally Moses is the best player aged 17 I've ever seen) but junior talent doesn't always mean future success. I'd much rather see Marshall on a 2 year deal (2014-15).

If this is true and we're to lose 4 senior players, I think Galloway will be one. I hope he stays because our front row is up the creek without him, but he's knocked back the Tigers first offer so he's not off to a good start.

Tuqiri is off contract at the end of the year and I don't think anyone can really envision him staying next year, likewise for Utai.

Bell is another off contract…

I'd love to see Blair off to the UK, and for his own general health and wellbeing, Lawrence should consider retirement, likewise Moltzen.

Better performers?

People were saying how well he was doing compared to last season. When you set the bar that low it takes a real effort to dissapoint

I obviously don't know what the offer was but I would have thought that a guy who has missed as many games as he has over the past few seasons couldn't be too greedy.

100% Willow. Galloway could command a fair bit of coin, not so sure the club will agree. Personally I would not be against the club targeting someone else and moving on. That someone else though has to be a current first grade prop not a fringe player though.

Tuiqiri and Utai are self explanatory really. We need to move on from them. It's for the best. Bell hasn't done too badly but if he's to be used as a backrower than he should move on too. We have enough stock in the back row moving forward.

From what I have heard Marshall dislikes Potter immensely , does not want to leave but he will not get the money his asking for and take it from me he wants the 1million a season which the tigers are not prepared to pay especially with his current form.

If this is the case he very well could be on the move , Parramatta are also interested as well , the clean has started with Humpty with more heads to roll I can only hope Blair is one of them.

Probably find that Sheens is a better cuddler than Potter

Seriously, Sheens was a better person/player manager than Potter. Potter's inactivity is just resulting in a lot of bad blood among the team. .

Of course Sheens was a better person/player manager than Potter. Potter is so old school it's not funny.
Have you heard any player say Potter is a good coach ?

Tim Moltzen and Blake Ayshford are not needed and after their recent drinking episode I would think are at the top of the list.
Lote Tuqiri and hopefully Blair as the other two.

Galloway is rumoured to have been shopping himself around a bit. Seems to have hit a few walls… Apparently, No other clubs rate him as much as we do (Or he does for that matter)
He is not a top line prop in the game, Has never (I think) played a full season for us and won't get the big dollars that come with the big boys (Ubless he goes to England)
Gimme a big angry bopper from the UK anyday, Gimme a few of em....
Eorl Crabtree anyone?

what's really scarey is that we only have half a dozen senior players (at most) and most of them are rubbish.

Go ask woods and farah if the side are missing Galloway… Woods has been forgotten about for SOO again becouse he doesnt have his partner in crime next to him, which is what happened last year until Galloway came back...

my guess is that they mean 4-7 players to be DROPPED!!!

could also be players being released as of next year. there is no way we could do this now.

players i would like to see shown the door:

1\. Adam Blair
- no surprise there

2\. Tim Moltzen
- Lets face it, he gets injured too much and is pretty inconsistant. not to mention im not really sure what posistion suits him best. better off with a specialist player.

3\. Blake Ashford
- this guy while good back in 2010, has really dropped off and were got some great kids coming thru, not too mention we could buy a better player who plays more consistant

4\. Lote tuquri
- Massive waste of money, should NOT of been resigned.

5\. Big Keith Galloway
- This dude is great to watch and a real warrior but also a real injury prone player and its a lot of money wasted

6\. Benji Marshall
- Look benji is one of my fav players but if other teams want him and he's asking for big bucks then let him go so we can keep our youngsters. not sure if you guys read matty johns comment but if we sign marshall we wouldnt be able to keep moses and brooks. Maybe we need to start over.

7\. Chris Lawrence
- another fav but too injury prone and has lost his edge.

other then that we should keep the rest. theres a few million there we have saved. we should be looking at what souths have done. it takes time but we can do this!!!

i do hope we dont lose lawrence, benji or galloway.. it's more of a sentimental thing than a team perforamce thing for me though.

it's true none of them have been in an excellent form but they have been there to deliever massive wins for the WT.

however, we do need some senior players.. players that are gonna give their last contract here.. idc if they are in their mid 30's… the older, the better for us atm... older= more prone to injured, hence we can inject our young players at a time where we do have depth.

in our current squad, only farah comes into that catergory (bar the 30+) because he can provide direction and leadership to the young players.

at manly, they had lyon, menzies, bell?, jason king etc. when they were blooding the young players through and they havent needed to go outside for depth.. that's what we need, i think pat richards can be a jamie lyon for us with galloway and farah helping out the forwards. anasta can help out the halves.

i still think lawrence and ayshford should be our no.1 centre pairing sooner or later-- im willing to give lawrence a go from state cup and make his way up.. i know he can do it. he needs confidence.

i still dont think this year is a write off... we can make the 8, im not confident of it at all, but i do know that if we are in the hunt with 3-4 rounds to go and in-from, i dont mind a 9-10 finish at all.

this year we are changing our playing style.. potter said this at the start- "earn the right to play in their 20"... we are trying to get there

2013 should be about structure and playing style.. '14 about player retention/recruitment and if all goes to plan, '14-15 we should be right up there with the top teams

i like to think that i have patience, but of late, i've been very impatient with not just our team but the reffing as well. as long as our off field stuff doesn't intervene with on field, i have faith in our team and our club
