So if the plan started18 months ago, what was everyone doing before then? I've been told we have had great management for the last 6 years. What were they doing?

I don't know if you can blame the management of the club though. They punted on Cleary which is understandable and Cleary is the wrong person to lead a club like ours. If you already have the talent I reckon Cleary could be a good buy.

We can't turn this around quickly.

I look at the 76'ers in the NBA. They've built up a good squad but Ben Simmons is an overpaid dud and they will have to adjust. You got to make the best decisions you can at the time and adjust. There is no way every decision will pay off.

You hope that over time though if we continually look to improve we can become a better team and hopefully stay a better team for a number of years.

Take the Tampa Bay Bucaneers as an example. Struggling for years, fundamentally sound at a base level but weak in key positions. In one off season sign a winning quarterback ( halfback, Hastings ), a great tight end ( lock, TPJ ) a sensational running back ( centre, Gildart ) and a top flight WR ( wing, Maumolo) . Next step Superbowl ( premiership ) See how close we are?

comparing hastings to brady is a stretch
one is the goat and one played well in a reserve grade comp
comparing gronk to TPJ is another stretch, ones arguable the best in a generation with a great working relationship with brady

oh don't get me wrong, we have had 10 years progress and are only at the 18 month mark on the plan
my attention span for nrl is dropping rapidly, besides origin, may have watched 5 games the last 2 years that aren't tigers based and that's solely due to the tigers performance. the better they perform the more other nrl games i would be watching

I completely agree. We are close. It feels miles off but it's a couple of quality players.

The talking heads are really pushing us to bring Finucane to the club.
Easier said than done...

What do the fans think can be done?

@cochise @isaaktigers @willow @Tiger5150 @hobbo1 @TheDaBoss @TrueTiger @weststigers

Firstly, glad you're talking to me again!

Now, to answer your question, I think we are addressing the things that need to be addressed and progress can only go so fast...

Take a look at last year and our roster at the end of 2020 compared to 15 games in for 2021:

In the off season, we offloaded McQueen, J Reynolds and some other duds in exchange for Joffa and Tamou + recruited Stefano the year before.

**This year, some notable achievements:**

1. Laurie signs for this year
2. Hastings signs for 2022
3. Gildart signs for 2022 (doubts, but he is a GB international)
4. Maumalo signs for this year
5. Pangai rumours are strong
6. Sheens & Kimmorley sign on

Madge and Hartigan are working hard behind the scenes to add quality to our roster - it's a tough job, but they are buying good players at fair prices. We are definitely missing 2-3 stars in our team though, but they'll get there. I said it in another post, but the players we have, are perfect to put around 2 or 3 marquee players. Just need to convince them to sign.

Massive effort to free up cap space on JR's contract. Big tick.

Packers money is sitting in reserves, so any contributing first grader(s) we can pickup for his coin is a bonus. We just need to wait until the end of the year to cash it in.

Mbye is still an issue, but there's big bucks there for a marquee player when his contract is done.

BJ will most likely be gone or on a reduced contract.

How fast can we go? I think we're moving as fast as possible.

Facilities, junior development and shrewd recruitment will pay off. I see us being half way there...

**The only things I would do are:**
1. Pick a home ground and stick with it. None of this 4 or 5 home grounds each year. How we thought that was a good idea is beyond me.
2. I'll be shouted down for this, but I would pick up **Mitchell Pearce** on a 2 year deal if the money was right. Gives us cover in the halves and he is a consistent performer - big upgrade on Mbye. Hastings as depth or at 14 to play a Peachey role.
3. Make a play for **Josh Morris** to play centre on a 2 year deal if the Roosters don't want him. Frankly, he's a big upgrade even at 34yrs old.
4. Put a big money offer in for **Brandon Smith** - Liddle can go.

Bold moves Cotton. I suppose the status quo isn't working so why not try something else. I really don't agree with Pearce but there's clubs out there who seem to get the best out of the old stagers. For whatever reason though we aren't one.

So what would be your halves pairing?

7 Pearce
6 Duoihei

7 Pearce
6 Brooks

7 Brooks
6 Pearce

+ How about 13 Pearce at lock, like Anasta did for a while at the roosters?
Play making 13.

I think the only difference with our older signings is we bought players that were on the decline, hoping they would recapture the form of their youth.

Pearce and Morris are still very consistent players. Morris especially.

I get what you’re saying though…my thinking is to build a bridge with these players until cap mess is sorted and they can perhaps make us competitive enough to attract 1 or 2 big guns.

In the context of our roster:
Morris for BJ
Pearce for Mbye
Cheese for Liddle

If you offered me these trades today…I’d take them.

Another 5 yr plan ...I really do not know how you all can swallow all this rubbish ..there is an inherent issue WITHIN this club ..Coaches have come and gone as with players but the mediocrity remains regardless of the personnel changes at football level , what is the real issue then ..maybe there should be a plan to look at this level of the organisation !
**Maybe a plan for One Home ground might be nice instead of 6 home grounds might this mind set be the inherent problem .**

Exactly my thoughts. It's not the actual ground itself, it's the fact that after 21 years, there hasn't been any leadership to solve the problem. It has always been in the too hard basket, much like our footy team when it comes to fronting up on game day.
There is no leader in the front office, only "titles" that are bestowed on people. Doesn't matter if you have a 6 month plan or a 30 year plan, somebody has to lead the way, much like on the field. Until that happens this place will continue to be the laughing stock of the NRL and every fan that doesn't support WT.

They also made preliminary finals in that time, I don’t think we even expect that. Top eight every once in a while would keep me going.

So everyone at the club just has a title and a salary but they don't do anything ? I assume they have plans but because no is leading them no one does anything. Is that correct ?

It all sounds like a great little comedy show or something.

Whatever they do isn’t resulting in the desired outcome, winning on Sundays. So they aren’t doing it well.

Interesting. I assume that if you were CEO or captain then we'd finally have leadership and we'd win the comp.

I can't wait until that happens. It's going to be a good day.
