NRL: Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall spoke to the media following their round 25 defeat to the North Queensland Cowboys.
Wests Tigers will play at suburban grounds in the inner-west and southwest of Sydney for the next 15 years.
In a landmark decision, the club has locked in home games at Leichhardt Oval and Campbelltown Stadium until 2041.
Leichhardt Oval has already been promised a $50 million upgrade with a further $60 million committed for Campbelltown Stadium.
It means Wests Tigers’ two suburban grounds will receive government funding worth a whopping $110m.
An official announcement is expected to be made on Monday.
The allocation of games at both venues will be determined before each season.
Government officials were discussing the deal at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday, where North Queensland came from behind to topple Wests Tigers 34-28 before a sellout 16,000 crowd.
Wests Tigers will remain at their home grounds after striking a funding deal.

The realisation that Leichhardt will remain a top-tier rugby league venue well into the future will delight Tigers fans and rugby league historians.
Wests Tigers played four games at Campbelltown this season, three at Leichhardt, one game at Parramatta’s CommBank Stadium, another at Accor Stadium and a match at Magic Round in Brisbane.
The Leichhardt matches are historically well received at a ground locals call the Eighth Wonder of the World.
An upgrade at Campbelltown Stadium is expected to beef-up crowds at the venue.
Sunday’s loss to North Queensland ended any hopes Wests Tigers harboured of playing finals footy in 2025.

Thanks for posting, champion @innsaneink

Even if its bugger all for the average pleb WTs fan....hopefully being able to host more corporates will attract more big wigs and their $$$.
I really hope we can now dump Accor and Commbank once the renos are done.
Timelines will be interesting, apparently no games at LO in 27 while works going on there....maybe theyll stagger it and do up CSS in 28...so both seasons we have at least one of our suburban grounds to play at and also parra or homebush...with both up and running from 29

Announcement and hopefully more details today

the toilets and food and beer lines at LO yesterday were a joke as per usual when they get 15k or more … surely it won’t cost a lot to improve these things which should lead to a better game day experience for Joe Average Fan ..

Campbelltown needs more money, but you gotta start somewhere I guess…

Does that money include the already guaranteed 30mil to knock down the north end stand and put a COE underneath it for the Bulls , nsw Institude of sport and our juniors ?

The fact we got funding for one of the grounds, let alone both is insane.
Well "we" didn't get funding, the local council did.

The issue is, and Richo is canny because he knows this, that the state of LO and CSS is not acceptable for elite-level sport and teams are likely to move to the new central stadia unless there are upgrades.

So the local councils have complained and the State Govt wants the votes. No surprise then that LO, CSS, Brookvale, Jubilee, Penrith have all been thrown money to keep the stadia going.

True...i was holding on for the 2nd half.
Visited the glen morrison memrial pisser yesterday first time since it was a medieval dungeon ...floor wasnt ankle.deep in urine and there was actually running sinks, running water and hand soap!!

Unbelievable work from richo and BOF, I do wonder though what the money will be used for at ctown, obv Leichhardt getting the new grandstand and more amenities
Feel sorry for someone like Dean Mezzatesta. I know the sharks own thier ground , but there’s zero appetite for any government to put funds into that ground . Really since the 80s . Which from memory is why they bought their ground in the first place .

I heard LO new capacity will be 21K from memory …

Don’t think capacity details been released yet of Cambo…

What’s the thoughts ? Are 20k stadia big enough for us the next 15 years ?

Just cause they play in bigger stadiums doesn’t mean the crowds will automatically follow … they have got some average crowds at Comm Bank even though they play the other bigger Sydney teams there typically as opposed to the Titans and Cowboys … Easter Monday game against Parra the exception

The problem will be if the team becomes competitve in the next few years before the renovations are complete. You could imagine we start averagine above 25K for games at commbank, which will mean it won't make sense leaving it completely.

We’ll see what happens …there is a number of things that lead to getting a good crowd to any ground … weather and day of the week it’s played two huge things …they gotta also factor in not giving the opposition a leg up and getting a proper home ground advantage as well if you want to be truly successful … I mean it shits me no end that they give that up agains the Eels every year now
