A key element of the better teams attack is to try to tire out the opposition through smart play, not necessarily trying to score points on every set. If you notice the better teams when they win large it’s usually a tight match early before they blow away their opposition once they’ve become fatigued. I agree we need to get better with our 5th tackle options but to do this we need to have much better 4th tackle options. Too many times after the 4th we spread the ball laterally and lose the ruck battle. This leads to our kicker having to rush the kick, giving the opposition great staring position. If we play more direct when we shift it, with the aim of a quick play the ball we’ll create more time for better last tackle options... It’s easy to defend if your opposition is running it out from their own 10 metre line.
