If the comp stopped now, 6th place would more then likely get a 2nd chance..

the top 8 is a joke the mcintyer system is a joke, its a joke that we are still going to be in the 8 with losing more then winning.
All it does is reward crap teams, who might get lucky and get a win like parra did in 09 then they get all the home field advantage.
Just think if Manly finish 1st and Roosters 8th they have to take a home game to the SFS roosters home ground this year.

Bring back the top 5 make teams work the entire season and be rewarded for finishing high I know it won't happen because it is all about the $$$$$ with the salary cap making this comp close not GOOD its to much of a advantage that a 8th place team can get in losing more games then winning and only have to be on one day and get every advantage possible, while first place could only lose 3 games all year, be off for one day and lose it all.

the only reason it was brought in was because in 1995 we had 20 teams. now where down to 16 a top 8 is to much.

Thoroughly agree with this. Every year 3 teams are being rewarded for mediocrity. With the current setup, there isnt any real incentive to bust your gut all year.

yeah wat i mean is that there's less meaningless games, therefore more interest in the media and from fans = bigger crowds & more money for the struggling clubs, as well as more money from the extra finals games. when we had 20 teams it was a top 10 so it actually has come down

top 6 for now and a top 8 with the expansion would be good as you see usually the top 6 teams are the standouts with 2 average teams like parra,canberra,souffs and rorters usually getting in 7th-8th

nah it was only top 10 in 1998 after the split got back together the year the dogs fluked their way to the grand final. every other year was top 8
