BRAITH Anasta has vowed to "rip in" for the Wests Tigers after revealing his final season with the Sydney Roosters was "tough, sad and unenjoyable".

Anasta also admitted he was concerned when Tim Sheens was sacked as coach and several of the Tigers' leading players walked away.

WESTS TIGERS

"THIS move was exactly what I needed. I had seven years at the Roosters and think I lost a bit last year," Anasta said.

"I don't know why, maybe because I signed so early with the Tigers. Last year just didn't feel right and I probably wasn't enjoying my footy.

"I think the move has come at a great time for me. I've set myself new goals, I've got new surroundings and a new coach.

"I feel like a rookie again. I feel rejuvenated, excited and comfortable. I want to train hard, play hard and rip in."

ROOSTERS

"IT'S tough when the team isn't going so well. You try your hardest every week, but whether you are enjoying it as you should, I'm not sure.

"Ask any of the players. When you finish where we did, you don't have the best time. It was a sad year - the realisation that you're leaving is hard to come to terms with. But I have totally moved on and know this has come at a good time for me."

BENJI FACTOR

"IF Benji wants to play five-eighth, then I would play him at five-eighth," Anasta said.

"Benji is the heart and soul of the club, along with Robbie (Farah). They should play where they are comfortable.

"I am more than happy to play in the back row, lock, whatever suits the team.

"Benji and Robbie play what they see - off-the-cuff - and that's how I play my best. I don't think too much structure suits me too well."

TIM SHEENS

SHEENS signed Anasta and was then sacked as coach.

"I have settled now, but I wasn't when I was on my honeymoon," Anasta revealed. "I came here the week before we (took a break) and you could tell all the boys were unsettled. There was a lot of speculation and the players weren't sure where they stood.

"That's never a healthy environment for a professional sports team.

"I was unsettled because I had dealt with Tim pretty much man-to-man. But Mick Potter is here and and it's settled now."

THE EXODUS

WESTS Tigers allowed star players Beau Ryan and Chris Heighington to join the Sharks.

"That was really uncomfortable for me because I had just come to the club," Anasta said.

"I wasn't too happy about it, but I didn't feel responsible. But I just felt I didn't need to be here. A lot of these guys had lost a couple of their mates and quality players."

JODI'S MY ROCK

BRAITH Anasta and his high-profile wife Jodi Gordon have just returned from their honeymoon in Bali.

"We had a great wedding and an unbelievable honeymoon" he said. " I couldn't be happier with the life I have. I have a beautiful wife and am looking forward to the next phase of our lives. She is there 24/7 for me"

BA is one of those players that seems to cop crap from all opposing fans and I was one of them until he joined the family. Now after paying a bit more attention to him I realise that he's not that bad a bloke and he will be a great role model on and off the field which we have sorely lacked. It's funny how you see players differently until they join your team.

I think he will be a great addition.

If Braith can provide the "stability" we need and Jacob can take some pressure off Benji as well then we are going to get back on track next year.

Interestingly I re-watched the 2005 Grand Final the other day, the one thing that stands out was how little Benji touched the ball, he just injected himself into the play when the time was right and almost all of his plays were quality.

So hopefully with a few more "creative" players, and a bit more structure we can get back to this style.

He will be one cheap signing i know he needed a change and he proved it like we did with Tim Sheens now you cant stay for to long im pretty sure he has good 2 years in him and we will fire up next year.

I used to scream all kinds of names at BA when he played against us. Definitely means he contributes alot to each game.

I was a harsh critic of BAs signing.
however on reflection he may well play without the pressure of expectation and have a good year .
he can provide some guidance for the young blokes and looks like a fresh start will suit him

i always thought he would be a great signing , he adds footy brain , kicking game , goal kicking , and a player that can create something , miller , marshal , robbie , anasta i like it

Helmsey, with regards to your comment as to how little Benji touched the ball in the 2005 GF, Benji for the past few years has been made the workhorse of West Tigers attack. This was mainly due to Sheens following his coaching dogma that the best attacking player must handle the ball the most. Unfortunately a workhorse becomes tired and his attack loses its briiliance and becomes dull. In Benji's case he also felt the pressure of needing to score or set up tries every time he handled the ball. With Benji playing 5/8 and players of the type and calibre of Braith Anasta and Miller playing inside of him we can look forward to Benji playing his natural exciting gaame throughout 2013.

Exactly, and Mr 600 gamer could not see this, glad he is gone.

Still can't bring my self to warm to him. In saying that, the first game he wins for us by a FG in GP ill be drawing up a "in braith we trust" poster.

Exactly!

Big difference between a seasoned Scott Prince directing the team around in 2005 and a rookie in Miller doing the same and allowing Benji to sit back.
Benji had the most try assists in the game playing halfback remember.
Still not convinced Benji should be back at 6 if only a rookie inside him at 7.

I'm warming to Braith. Always known he is a quality footballer, just his on field whinging that has always annoyed me.
No captaincy, not one of the main playmakers and a fresh start and in the last couple of years in the game, suggests a quality stint with the Tigers.

We wont know until we see the structure settle and form.

Seems most of this forum is hanging on two rookies (Miller/Tedesco) to make the difference for us next year - I think that's hoping for too much.
Will be interesting to see who starts at half but unless Miller totally dominates in the trial games then I can't see him getting the nod.

He is saying all the right things

But we are used to players saying the right things

When I see him actually carrying them out on the field then I'll be happy

CK That Moltzen barrow you keep pushing must be getting bloody heavy , pity you can't find someone to help you

 Didn't even mention 2012's leading tryscorer/most linebreaks , happy.
Seriously though - there are plenty of people pushing the barrow of two unproven kids and I think Anasta might run out in our first game at half.

with braith coming into the team, there is now a good mixture of youth and expericence.
he knows how to close a game out.
which can only be of benefit to wests-tigers.

Well both these rookies are now on the injured list. I hope they are both eased back into training when they return and not pushed to be there for round 1.

With regard to Moltzen what you don't see or hear is that even thou these two kids are in a battle with him he goes out of his way to help and encourage both of them.
