A classy act from a classy person!

As some of you may be aware I have a little girl that has a battle of her own, but its nothing compared to what Lleyton has been through.
Seeing that little fella run out with the biggest grin on his face made my day, even before the ball was kicked off.
Words cannot describe what it must be like knowing that you will be losing a child and my thoughts go out to his family.
I shed a tear for him as Benji carried him around the oval and then did the guard of honor.
I came home and tried to tell my wife about it and she also shed a tear.
A very nice touch by Benji and the Tigers. I am sure Lleyton will cherish every moment of it.
 
Well done Benji and the Tigers. That lap of the ground they did with the young bloke and the tunnel they made for him at the end, I will remember for a long time.
 
Take a bow Benji… As others have said, as a parent it really hits you hard to see any little one in that situation. It makes all of your complaints seem trivial. Also makes you proud to be a Wests Tigers fan.

Good luck to the little fella, hope to hear of a miracle soon.

Proud to be a Tigers supporter, well done Benji. Our son died when he was 12, and I can tell you that what you say, Drew, about losing a child is very true. It is something you never get over. Still, I'm sure that the actions of Benji and the team today will be treasured by Lleyton's family for the rest of their lives.
 
gee paris , i cant ever go close to imagine how hard it is ..when my 12 y/o son got hit by a car late last year the emotion alone was hard to handle. here i was in the ICU at randwick chidrens hospital with other parents in worse situations and they were inspiring me . one father who had his young bloke in there for an operation that may have given the little fella another year of life …as he said 99.9 percent of the population will never see inside the icu unit of the childrens hospital .. when i was there the roosters had a bbq for the sick children and their parents . they were amazing guys . as were sydney fc who visited my sons room and gave him some goodys ...it really does make a rugby league game trivial .....
 
When he ran out with the boys my daughter asked who was he, even at that stage I was chocking up & all I could say was "he's sick". Then to come home & see on Ch 9 news the guard of honor after the game!!!

That must be pure agony.
I heard his father rang a radio sports show thru the week, told them all what The Tigers had done and were going to do for him today…the host said he hoped Lleyton could help the tigers as they need all they could get after last saturday, his dad said yeah hopefully it goes both ways and it helps his boy. The severity of the situation wasnt evident in the call....cant imagine how hard this would be for the family, at least today will bring them all a smile.

Benji said during an interview with 2GB after the game when they were down they were calling Lleyton's name to lift themselves.

Lleyton's dad rang up the radio stations footy shows during the week & publicly thanked Wests Tigers & most of all Wayne Cousins for organising this special occasion to happen. It was very moving then, but wow, today was so much more. Congats all involved, it just shows so many people care.
 
Bought a tear to my eye at the game. You could see the joy on little Lleyton's face when they set up the guard of honour, he was beside himself, and the crowd gave him the biggest roar.
It was really kind of Benji to think of him and go get him at the end of the game and pop him on his shoulders.
Kids like that just humble you and make you think about what really is important.
Special day.
 
This is the first I have heard of this boys plight. My heart aches for the kid, how awful for him and his family to have this challenge ahead of them. I just can't imagine how it would feel, I try to then the hurt stops me from allowing myself to think about it further. Can someone explain what his condition is? Like I said I didn't know about it until I read this topic.

And like others have already said, good on you Benji for making his little dreams come true.

Within a very short space of time Wayne Cousins and the rest of the Tigers team being made aware of young Lleytons health issues they jumped right into it in an amazing scenario given such short notice.
I listen to Talkin' Sport on 2SM and Sky Sports Radio Big Sports Breakfast and Lleyton's family was truly humbled by how much effort the club has put into such a short space of time for this brave young man, this is why I follow Wests!.

there are times in life where actions speak louder than words and benji you did it in spades today !! congrats to all those at weststigers in making lleytons day the special day that it was. absolutely fantastic !!!
 
does any other sport have an ambassador as good as benji?

haven't seen a send off after a game as emotional as that since hodgson's last games at leichhardt and campbelltown
