…When is a player tackled...

Have only seen the game live but would love to know how it came across on TV....

At least twice maybe more Manly just got up and ran......that's how it looked...

It is definitely a rule that has been gone under the radar this year due to all the other stuff ups with rulings this year. Buggered if I know when a player is tackled anymore.

They will probably address it next season, whilst letting another rule become misinterpreted by the officials.

yeah it was not policed well tonight ball carrying arm hit the dirt on multiple occasions with the tackler still holding on. worst ive ever seen in a single game

The continual play on calls nearly cost us the game. From memory, it lead to two of their tries.

The refs should watch that and correct it from next week.

The refs need to sort this out because if second player comes in to complete a tackle on a player who's on the ground it called a flop and it's penalised . How do you win with these silly interpretations.

One in particular was in the first half I think, Matai was deadset on the ground, Ryan IIRC had put downward pressure on him (once a player is on the ground, all you need to do is put your finger on him) and he got up and kept running. Wouldve been a penalty in the U8s yet first grade refs cant get it right.

Cecchin certainly didnt deserve his paycheck tonight.

I was sitting next to a diehard manly fan who has been to ever game for 30 years
even he said that the manly players should have gone back and taken the tackle

oh well, we won!!!

Was at the game and I thought the same thing…

Just watched the recording of it and confirmed it. Watmough did it at least 3 times himself.

We all often throw referee decisions around as deliberate bias but I wonder how much of it is just the referee being tired, worn out, etc?

Absolutely!

I was there and have watched the replay.

What about the big winger, in the first half: not only was he tackled, but he stood up and had to run around the marker to get clear! What is going on there????!!!! :astonished:

The 1 that sticks in my mind was when Watmough made the break in the 1st half & Mighty Mouse got him in a great 1 on 1 legs tackle & Watmough got up & kept running… I was waiting for the whistle to go... but never did...
Its cheating really isn't it...

the thing i have noticed is that when a player is killing it in a game, they seem to get away with stuff like that.
watmough did it 3 times and i lost my voice screaming at the TV.
if the tackler holds onto the leg they risk a penalty or even 10 in the bin. they let em go n the player just gets up n runs.
there was some very VERY suspect calls on monday night. hasler should send the refs flowers instead of bag them at the press conf after the game. he is such a sook.
