A team going no where

Whether it is the players fault of the coaches thats what it look like.

In 2014 under Potter were 9 and 8 and right in the Top 8 mix under deep in the season. We suffered an injury crisis and a few other meltdowns and ended the year poorly. Everyone was talking about the Tigers great young talent and that they would be Premiership contenders in a few years.

The feeling going into 2015 the general feeling was Jason Taylor had got a good job at the right time, with plenty of young talent coming through. His biggest mantra was improving the defence of the team and said that was his number 1 goal.

Fast forward 18 months and I am struggling to see any real positives

* 15th last year after a decent run with injuries (defence 11th best a slight positive)
* 14th so far this season with a worse defence and young players playing worse football then 18 months ago

Sitting in the stands on Sunday it felt like the game was over after 5 minutes. The defence was atrocious, no one was was on the same page , blokes jumping at shadows all over the place. The football was pedestrian one out play. The kicking game was woeful.

On the field no one looked fired up, no passion really shown. You see Reynolds and James Graham bouncing about getting in peoples faces.

The atmosphere was so flat on the field and in the crowd. After 20 minutes I was bored and ready to leave. I thought we might follow a good win up with something to kick statr our season. People say our roster is not that good and I agree. However we do have

* 3 current Origin Players (Assuming Teddy would have made it in key positions)
* Young players with plenty of talent.

Yet we like if anything we are going backwards. Last season I would say we were in the mix for about 9 weeks (4-4 start before things feel away). This week we looked in the mix for about 6 weeks before we dropped out don the bottom.

Yep, has become norm of recent to keep missing the top 8
Its simply not fair on the fans and supporters and as a collective unit, the players and the whole organisation should be ashamed of not being able to turn it around year after year

Some good points. I think it shows that Taylor is a dud coach at this point and some of our younger players haven't kicked on at all.

Frustrating isnt it.The team needs motivation and a will to win this is something which should be automatic in the players and a key issue the coach should bring be able to bring out even more.As i have stated earlier i dont know of any player in the club that has been improved by our coach

A club going nowhere more like it.
I've never felt less enthusiastic about the whole joint.
Nothings changing.

Ground Hogg day is the issue.

Since 2006 it's been all the same except perhaps 2010/11 when some brain explosions saw us miss the GF.

On a bright note no body is currently signed for 2018.

There is players in our Club that have been in our system for many years e.g Teddy , Nofo , Simona , Moses , Brooks , Sue , Sironen , Woods . For me Teddy , Woods , Sue and maybe Simona have improved over the years .
There is no doubt in my mind that the Club has fed the fans in believing in all this Potential crap just to simply cover up our Salary Cap mess and justify why we haven't had a Marquee signing since Gareth Ellis.

Our Club need to cut there losses and start getting rid of a heap of players once we get our finances in order , the halves would be the 1st i let go…..for every Try they create ? they let in 2 Tries they need the rest of this year in State Cup and get there game in order , 1st Grade is just not there level at the present time .
Anyway the Season is how i expected it to be so my emotions are intact , the only problem is my care factor is quickly diminishing.

I understand rebuilding a team takes a couple of years but 5 years and no change is beyond a joke. We need to build from the top down. A strong front office will lead to a strong team which we have been lacking in both departments. I think we are on the improve with Pascoe now we just need to get a new coach who is old school and makes players accountable and drops them for bad performances.

Very frustrating. Being below average seems to be accepted by the folks running the club. One reason I didn't renew my membership, only way I could get my voice across to the club.

Michael Potter had less opportunities in terms of what he could and couldn't do. He achieved far more than Jason Taylor with the board's support being virtually non-existent.

He said not to sign Farah to a long term deal, look what happened? He was right there.

Blame our board people. Yes, the coach needs to go, but the board is responsible for this mess 100%.

We are a club that apparently preaches 'defence first', and yet concede 27+ points a game, and that figure is trending upwards.

I agree. The board have made some pretty ordinary decisions with the worst being getting JT in as coach.

We stress this but what we mean by this is we have no attacking plays. We also have really poor defensive structures.

We look poorly coached.

JT has had long enough to show something. Look at Gold Coast. Their roster is no better than ours and they compete almost every week.

When is the club's review of JT's performance? Surely there can be only one outcome now?

I'd say promote Peters for the remainder of the year. He seems like he has something bringing our Under 20s in contention with outstanding defence.

x 2
actually, my care factor has just about evaporated.
all i see is a team with lack of spirit going down the gurgler and a dud coach with no idea.
i couldn't care less any more about team selections etc, etc
looking forward to the epl and a-league starting again

Adam Blair and Lote Tuquri were marquee signings that came after Ellis.

I totally agree with this comment.

We are just so awful at the moment, and nothing seems to improve.
I am a long standing committed member of this club, but I said to my friend this morning that if we can't beat the Knights this weekend on our home ground, I am ready to throw in the towel. :roll
We don't seem to be able to get on a roll for some reason, as the previous post said, our defence is awful (almost non-existent)- I'm sure a squad of 10 yo's could play a better game than us.
I am quite pessimistic and pretty depressed, so I hope this club can turn things around- and quickly :deadhorse:

This side will be unrecognisable in 2018 imo. I can easily only half of the players, if that, taking the field against the Knights still being here. I think we will go heavily into the market this time next yr. Guessing who will be gone, I would say

Farah
Ballin
Halatau
Rankin
Hunt
Lovett
Noffa
Sirro
Grant
