A very important question

In the spirit of Demps' silly threads, what do you like to eat at games?

A hot dog with tomato sauce is a favourite during the warmer months, otherwise a bucket chips is perfect on those cold nights at the SFS.

This is usually bought 20 minutes before kickoff, ensuring that the jitters of the opening minutes of the game can be soothed by nibbling.

The hotdogs at LO can be a little too long at times though. Anyone else find this?

Seeing I'm an old fogey (well compared to some anyway) When I used to go heaps with Dad and grandparents and Uncles and Aunts to see the mighty Wests Panthers in Brisbane Good weather and only day games . So we used to get Chips during reserve grade and an ice cream (drumstick) at half time during A grade . Wife says she loves dim sims when she goes to local games in town . And the prices 40 cents admission . Can remember Dad freaking out when prices hit 50 cents mid seventies . 20 cents for programs . Make a donation every game to the guide dogs (the actual person sat there with a wooden box) . dad would buy a couple of daily doubles .Sorry off track just reminiscing about the old days . When you could go to a local ground and get bench players signatures during the game . Those were the days !!!!!!!!!!!!

WT ran a "bring a tinned can of food and get your friend in for free" charity appeal at LO years ago.
we won that night from memory

Nothing silly about 'em.

When I go to the games @ Ausgrid Stadium, formerly Energy Australia Stadium….
Usually wait 'til half time, make a dash to the canteen area because I don't wanna wait in line for ages and grab an $8 pie with sauce and an orange juice.

Personally, not a fan of hot dogs or hot chips... however there is two places around my way that make amazing chips that I would eat any day, best chips I've ever had.
One being Caves Beach Top Shop, not to be confused with Frenchie's Shop, also at Caves Beach. It's located across from the Caves Beach Resort or whatever it is called now. Owned by some nice Greek family that seem to know what they're doing !
Secondly, The Gunyah Hotel @ BELMONT. I swing by here every big fight night and get a 500g steak with diane sauce with a side of salad & chips. The chips are to die for, so crunchy - which is how I like 'em !
I suggest if you're ever in this area you check these places out, 10/10 quality - one being a local fish n chip shop and the other being a bar with 2 top notch restaurants so catering for all you guys needs... **{REMOVED TOTALLY UNNECESSARY INSULT}**

VB and pies when I attend the SFS and Campbelltown.

I manage to drink VB at Leichhardt if the queue from the coffee shop doesn't spill over into the beer line. However I have never eaten at Leichhardt as the the lines are always too long.

I dislike the Hotdogs at Leichhardt. They are a disgrace. The frankfurt is undercooked and quite tough. It is always not hot. Has a bland taste to it and when washed down with beer, elevates my uric acid levels. End result > Gout. Kurburlis Catering do Campbelltown as well and the Hotdogs are just as bad.

I have unequivically pin pointed my 5 bouts of Gout in my life, to Leichhardt / Campbelltown Hotdogs.

The bread rolls aren't much chop either. Hard and stale. No good.

The best hotdogs I have ever had were in the late 80's to early 90's at Belmore Sports Ground. Delicious tasting piping hot, hot dogs with soft beautiful fresh BUTTERED bread rolls.

Beers not good for gout either Bug

Always have a hot doggie hot dog and a sausage on a roll from the random guy out the front of LO, followed by a few beers

at telstra stadium, I head to the pub across from it, and there is always a couple of ethnic food stalls.

A hot lamb roll with american mustard before the game, and a pale ale of some descript to wash it down. Only one beer though.

I don't like to eat during the game, and i'll only go a beer or two. The way I see it, i'm there to watch my boys play footy, not to get drunk, or feel like i need to take a dump for the whole game…

For me the time to throw the suds down is AFTER the game, you either celebrate a toweling, or drown your sorrows.

not really a favourite, but I have vivid memories or eating peanuts at Leichhardt as a kid. A guy would walk around selling bags of peanuts, "candy coated or in the shell"> I can still smell/taste them

BBQ Sausage with Onions on a Roll is a must at Leichhardt… But I couldnt find them last game, so I had to settle for a Hotdog. I can only have 2-3 cans of Carlton Draught as I'm usually heading straight to the airport after the games...

Love the Red Rooster at Suncorp Stadium though...

Oh the memories

BYO drinks and snacks, sometimes hot chips and a hot chocky if it's cold, then KFC on the way home from Campbo, and whatever takeaway we come to first on the way home from LO.

Yeah im a fan of the Carlton Draught as well, i usually head to the orange grove hotel and have a couple of schooners on beer on tap in a schooner glass not out of a can or plastic cup. Then we walk down and watch the U20's game and first grade at Leichhardt, i usually only go to the Leichhardt games as its too hard to get to the SFS in time for the game on a Friday night. If i go to Cambo i usually head to the leagues club and have a couple of schooners of Carlton Draught then watch the presentation after the game and then have dinner in the bistro before or after the presentation.

Oh, can I grab a lift home from Campbo one day/night. am dying for a manburger and this isn't a kfc within cooee of my place. :stuck_out_tongue:

It's a pie, chips and drink (either a beer or coke) at Campbo and SFS. Sausage on a roll with onions and drink at Leichhardt.

I think whats so ironic about this thread is although Demps pretty much spams this forum at times, 18 posts into a thread which suits him down to the ground, and he is yet to post here..

Alien likes a bourbon and coke at the orange grove hotel before and after the game, seen him there a couple of times as well. Cheaper beer than my local hotel as well, cant drink too much, though, have to drive.
