Yep the stats suggest Blair is far more effective. According to Supercoach blair has 21 hit ups, 20 of which exceedes 8 metres. Woods had 38 hitups, 18 of which exceeded 8 metres.

he needs to work on his leg drive in order to be up there with the best props.

Very good player. I think he is one of the best props in the game but I think he was a little loose out there.

Woods had 19 hitups with only 9 exceeded 8 metres.
Point remains Woods, as good as he is, needs to focus on improving the quality of some of his runs. Over the past 5 weeks he hasnt met he standard he set earlier in the year.

Take a look at how Blair does his hitups as opposed to Woods. Woods will more often than not take the hard hit up with no forward momentum to get try and get the Tigers on the front foot. Blair usually comes in on the 3rd or 4th tackle when the opposition is far more likely to be on the backfoot.

Dont doubt it. Woods is a champion but he has looked flatter of late. Wouldnt mind seeing him be a bit more choosy with his runs.

I thought he was excellent tonight given the conditions and general tightness of the ruck with both sides very compressed. Took 3 players each time to put him down and he still managed 3 offloads including a near miss for Sirro.

I love the way he draws in 3-4 defenders each hit up and looks for an off load at every opportunity. Immediately puts the markers and the defensive line on the back foot. His work rate is pretty good too

He needs another big bopper beside him for a while to change his game. he's been the only one for long periods in our team and it's starting to change his game. he's a big strong talented kid who needs a place in a team to find his game. right now he's playing the role of a leader as a kid. Tough role.
He needs a role model, not t o be a role model. Read his interviews about how he approached training when he first stared (training with old props etc). If we had a gallen of a fit galloway etc Woods would be even better than he currently is. I hope for him that we can find someone to fill that gap for him or he will end up half the player he should be

Benji Marshall has called for NSW to retain prop Aaron Woods for the deciding Origin game after he starred in Wests Tigers' upset win over Melbourne at Leichhardt Oval.
Woods and fellow Blues forward Robbie Farah laid the platform in the atrocious conditions, while young wingers Tim Simona and David Nofoaluma provided the strikepower out wide.
Woods has been criticised for his debut performance in Origin II. He could come under pressure to retain his place if James Tamou makes a successful return for the Cowboys.
But after watching Woods make 20 runs for 181 metres and 37 tackles just days after his Origin exertions, Marshall said the 22-year-old had to be a part of Laurie Daley's side for the decider.
''He's been doing that for us all year, he's been our best forward by a long way,'' Marshall said. ''I felt a bit sorry for him in Origin, the circumstances of him having no ball for the first 20 [minutes]. They pretty much defended the whole time. He showed tonight what he can do.
''Until you've played with Woodsie, you don't have the right to say anything. I know for a fact he's been our best forward all year and at times he carried us for 200 metres. He showed again why he deserves to be in Origin. He's got our team's full support.''
After a season disrupted by injury, the Tigers appear to have finally hit form. They conceded just one try against the defending premiers to notch their fourth win from five starts in what captain Farah described as ''probably the most complete 80-minute performance we've put in for a long time.''
There were many highlights, but none better than the length-of-the-field effort set up by Simona. The New Zealand-born winger fielded a Billy Slater kick in his own in-goal and started a movement which had Blake Ayshford sliding over for a classic in the opposite corner.
''I was just trying to help out the forwards in the middle, I'm just standing on the wing doing nothing,'' Simona said. ''It was good to back up the boys and I saw Benji there and I knew we could finish it off.''
Marshall believes the Tigers, languishing at the bottom of the table for much of the season, can also finish off the season strongly.
''That's definitely a season-defining win in terms of where we are on the table,'' he said. ''We never lost faith. That was our best performance of the year by a mile.''
With Farah back in the side and the forwards dominating up front, Marshall produced one of his better performances. Asked how the team had reversed its fortunes following a seven-game losing streak, he said: ''I can only speak for myself, but seven weeks ago I wasn't in control of my game and I wasn't putting us in positions we needed to be.
''Now I'm pretty much playing halfback but just wear No.6\. For me, it's about taking control, organising where we need to be on the field and making sure we get to our last-play options.
''When we do that we seem to go a lot better. I've been [playing as a pseudo halfback] for years, it's just the number on my back. I just don't like the No.7.''

Woods is a beast and personally I wouldn't swap him for any other prop in the comp and yes I know I'm going to get cained for saying that.
