ACTION ALREADY FOR 2013

After looking through Bazzinators list, I'd go after Matt Ballin or Andrew McCallough… Both could easily be squeezed out of their respected clubs...

Why would we want another hooker. Robbie is already there. We need players in other positions.

Just because Farah is there for 2012 doesn't mean he will be there for 2013\. I like Ballin as well Tiger Watto but i think they will groom Miller as a back up hooker and play the kid from Melbourne at halfback.

Robbie is going well and I'm hoping to see a spring in his step in 2012, but Robbie is getting older. I just dont think the game is suited to 80min hookers at the moment, and I'd really like to see a back-up 9 on the bench to give Robbie a rest for 20min a game. We just havnt been able to get one of our young 9's to go to the next level over the past 4 years and I feel it time to look outside.

A player like Ballin can easily fit into the backrow and work well with our bench rotation with the likes of Ellis & Blair pushing up into the Frontrow at stages in games. A player like McCallough could be a handy 14 as he can easily play 9; 7 or 6 if needed…

Politoni is the number 2 hooker at the club and having a very good pre-season so far.

Awesome Willow… I always liked what I saw of him 12 months ago, but he sort of dropped off the radar in 2011.

Do you feel he is a good enough number 2 Hooker to secure a bench role though?

I think Balin is too good of a player to go to another club and be a no 2, or sit on the bench and be used to give the no 1 hooker at that club a break. If you want a hooker like that, a Stuart Flannagan type player is the type of guy to go after or even Mark Riddell, because they will be happy to be anywhere in the 17\. Guyz like Balin and McCallough wouldn't ever come to the Tigers to be used as a bench player

Agree (except with you choice of back ups), Balin or McCullough are too good to play 20 minutes a game. As a second choice hooker.

Nafe Seluini, James Segeyaro, Kurt Baptiste or left field Matt McIllwrick from the raiders, impact players on the rise.

i reckon segeyaro will be cowboys first choice hooker in 2013\. after next yr, payne will finish his career off in england

I don't think he'll be on the bench Watto, the Tigers backrow and utility stocks look too strong. If Farah jags a spot for NSW I think that's when we may see Politoni provided he goes well at State Cup level.

Personally i would be going for a class fullback - although a lot of people on here hate the 2 FBs i will mention, it is the way i would go - I'm not sold on Dugan - he is injury prone and lacks ticker in my opinion - i would throw evrything at Slater to get him here but he is not off contract - that leaves Stewart - as a person i can't stand him, as a footballer he is outstanding and i think he would go to another level with our playing style - pie in the sky i know because i don't think any of them will join us.

I agree with GNR4LIFE, you do not want to be wasting chunks of your salary cap on substitute players. You want a young guy, or someone close to the end of their career. That is where a Politoni can get his chance and it will keep the juniors at the club i the knowledge that they will be given a chance if they are good enough.

I would keep Robbie over every other hooker in the comp, I just wish he came with a decent kick on the last in a semi final. I still think he needs to improve his form which has been lacking over the last couple of years.

I've stated many times that the clean out wasn't for 2012 but for a big signing for 2013, don't know why you are calling me out for though blackandwhite.

I'm unaware of any big name signing for 2013, we were so close to snaring Dugan but he will be at the dragons as far as I know which is something I also stated months ago. But if I hear anything as usual I will let this forum know.

As far as a "dream" halves pairing as in signing someone like a cronk, it won't happen.

Thanks again champ.good to hear your updates, all the best for christmas to yourself and all the other forum users.

Brett Stewart is signed sealed and delivered to Canterbury in 2013\. Hence why Manly have made a huge offer to our young fullback James Tedesco for 2013 and beyond.

The Tigers have invested quite heavily in James' development and he has impressed everyone with his attitude and desire to learn and improve since joining the NYC squad and especially in recent months while training with the NRL squad. He is a local junior who is a real credit to himself and his family.

We have our own Billy Slater in the making and I would throw everything at keeping James Tedesco at the club.

I'll be spewing if Tedesco leaves the Tigers. Hope they can keep him as he'll be one to watch next year and beyond.

That makes two of us Willow If Tedesco leaves the Tigers it will come back to haunt us big time

I like we I see with Tedessco, there is a number of current juniors I like, and truth be told, we cant keep them all, given our current crop coming through, we will definitely lose someone we will regret, whether it be Tedessco or someone else.
Probably a good place to be, I hope we keep Tedessco, but if someone pays a mint for him and we lose him, IMO it will be an unfortunate thing but, so be it. As sad as it will be.

Maybe that why the Tigers didnt sign Moltzen beyond 2012.

We did not sign Moltzen for beyond 12months because it was a "bad look" with all the contract problems we were having with the Dragons. You can bet your last dollar that Moltzen has some arrangement with the tigers for 2013 and beyond and when all the dust has settled mid season when everyone is talking football rather than off season crap, the tigers will announce the deal

As for keeping all our young guns, you have to be able to offer them the right money and a realistic chance of making the top grade and thats near impossible to do if you have a strong roster in front of them. Usually you have to nominate one or two and discard the others

I doubt whether we would lose a promising junior like Tedesco in such a key position as full back if we really wanted to retain him.
It wld cost us $300k+ to buy a decent 1st grade fullback(& much more for a superstar)in 2013,so weve got a fair bit of $$ to speculate within that figure if we think he's a real possibility to make it
