ACTION ALREADY FOR 2013

How long are each player signed for??

Wiilow, Toyota cup is the next rung up from SG ball

Yeah I know mate, but both these kids were 17 when they got the call up and had no trouble handling the step up to play against kids a couple of years older than them.

If our players were crap then no other clubs would be talking to them like they allegedly are, like we did with Miller.

Worry about if & when it happens

agree Ink, I love to keep all of the young guns we have, Tedessco (who looks amazing), Noafluma, Lovett, Sironen, Miller, Koribeta, Simona, plus the ones we have seen in NRL BMM, Woods, Groat etc….

but simple maths says we wont keep the lot, we will lose some, and some of the ones we lose will be very good at NRL level, but the modern game doesn't allow you to keep the lot.

The fact we have so many good ones is a credit to the club.

On that note, I have not seen any of him, but a mate of mine who is a very good judge (and development officer), reckons Luke Brooks if he recovers from his leg injury has superstar all over him. Reckons will dominate second half of NYC as a 17 yo, Im sure some blokes on here have seen alot of him, thoughts??

Is Luke Brooks any relation to David?

Luke Brooks is not related to David.

Luke will be coming back after a broken leg this year which followed a broken ankle the year before.
Hopefully he comes stronger and better than ever in 2012.

This Tedesco kid sounds like he has talent but please don't compare him to Slater, the greatest fullback the game has ever seen

And also i agree with Ink, there have been several players in the past who have been built up as the next big thing. I.e Mullany, Lazarus etc, and we're seeing it atm with John Grant. Just tread carefully people. Its good to see potential coming through, but just be level headed in the way you look at things. From what i understand the kid is still 17, and despite his potential, atm i'd take Brett Stewart in a heartbeat over Tedesco. You'd be crazy not to

Slater the best fullback the game has ever seen?

I do not think so.

He is the best at the present time, but the best ever?

As much as I dislike Slater for his grubbiness, can you honestly name a better fullback ever than him?

I'd rate him higher than Gary Jack, and I considered him the best ever for a long time…

I always thought Karmichael Hunt was a better Fullback than Slater, but both wernt as good as Gary Jack. I never saw much footage of Clive Churchill & Keith Barnes, but I've heard they were both pretty special also?!

If Tedesco is the equal of Brasher or Hodgo, we will be looking good for a few more years!

Slater is one of the best i have seen, Langlands was better then Barnes & Jack was very good, but Slater is better then them.

A very different era today.

There is one massive difference today than in yesteryear. The football!!

I would like to see how Slater would go using the old leather ball. The dimpled ball they use today is just about impossible to drop. In the wet it is much much better than the old pigskin.

Slater is a good player but of the modern players I would take Lockyer over him anyday.

Better than:- Lockyer, Churchill, Eadie, Barnes, Jack, Langlands, Parish, Thornett, Mullins, Johns, Hodgeson, Hunt etc, etc, etc.?

I think not.

Cripes!!
One difference???
Everythings different col. Not that it means a thing.
The boots, the grounds, the clothing, the training…Slater is the best

The question when it comes down to fullbacks is this…

60 seconds to go in a Grand Final, your team leads by two points, the opposition puts up a towering bomb - who do you want under that kick?

For me Hodgson followed closely by Jack and Brasher.

Actually Helmesy my first choice would be the roof of the Stadium so we get a twenty metre tap

Yeah it is ok to look at it that way Helmesy but the other 79 minutes is far more important or you wouldn't be in that position to start with

Slater is the best I have seen.

It is difficult to compare eras, but I would go Slater.

If someone through up a Langlands or Churchill, I never saw them play, so wont argue.

But i feel billy is a long way ahead of Jack and Brasher, 2 of my all time favourites, and I thought those 2 were miles better than Belcher, Mullins, and anyone else of the 90's, and I like Lockyer but think Slater is a much better fullback.

I actually think Stewart in 2008, was up there with Slater, but a bi part of it is doing it year on year, which Billy has.
