Not sure if this has been raised post season but i have to say ive been totally underwelmed by Blair for the entire season. I think he did absolutely nothing didnt seem to run hard or into many holes always backed into tackles but rarely offloaded,to me he added zilch to our pack.

I understand the settling in thing but 6 or 7 weeks ago he came out and said his performance was poor by his own admissions and to be honest i didnt notice much in the way of improvment afterwards.

I know Gibbs was getting on a bit and Fafitta by reports had a tendancy to be lazy but i would have much rather kept those two over blair thoughts????

Yeh, it's been said a lot, your not alone.
Huge waste of money. Perhaps with a new coach he might be used better in a different system. Hmmm

Next year could be a better insight. Inglis did bugger all in his first year at Souths and now everyone thinks he's the new Clive Churchill… He was a disappointment this year but I'm prepared to see what he does next season before writing him off completely.

the answer is a simple one , play him at prop in the middle of the park.
Blair isnt quick enough to play out wide ,and he isnt an 80 minute player.Sheens usually turns playersinto props, but not with Blair so it seems

Like O'Hara, Harris and Graham before him he has turned out to be a dud forward buy. WT seems to be a bit of a graveyard.

i hope this is the last Blair thread for a while. Its depressing a little seeing his name up in lights. Im trying to forget but your making it hard.

No one forcing you to read it mate save yourself some cash on prozac

he was underwhelming in 2011 as well.
the settling period was a load of crap.

we don't ask anything complicated from our forwards.his defensive lapses had nothing to do with scheme.his penalties had nothing to do with being a tiger.his soft runs had nothing to do with the tigers.his inability to offload had nothing to do with his team mates as some suggest.his weak running style made it easy for the opposition to tie up his arms.you may have seen the ball out there but he hardly ever was ready to give a quality offload.

he was over rated

If I was the CEO, this would be one of the many questions I would be raising with the person/s, who chased Blair.
Did Melbourne try to hang onto him or was he not rated high enough by them to make him a priority?
The recruiting of players for the NRL team has not been a strong point for the Club.

The recruitment is a serious issue perhaps some new blood is needed in that area we did chase him far too hard like we had no other option but in reality we already had the options at the club..

Now the season's over and post mortems are being done it is seems a lot of commentators are saying Sheens used him the wrong way and didn't play to his strengths.
TBH he wasn't a dud at Melbourne and wasn't made Kiwi vice captain (in a strong team) without having some talent.
What happened to him with us?
He almost always looked lost and with an experienced player that's unusual.
Like plenty of our other players poor form I think a lot of the blame has to be directed at the coach and the structures he puts in place.
The turnstyle of positional changes made our lack of a real game plan even worse - and harder for the players
You just can't expect guys to excel when they get shuffled every week.
The last 2 years the players natural ability helped them turn the tide - this year it was just too much for them.

At the beginning of the year, everyone thought it was an amazing signing. No doubt he underperformed, but harsh to blame the recruitment team.
The fact we started the season favourites indicates to me that our recruitment retention team did a good job.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, people on here only deal in extremes, either awesome or pathetic, in truth, almost everyone falls in between.

I expected more from Adam Blair, and was disapointed with his season, but he was far from as bad as people have said on here, people also factor in the the highly inflated reported price tag as the barometer of his performance, he is not on $500k a season.
The negatives revolve around him giving away too many penalties and missing to many tackles which is undoubtedly true. However he did offer some positives, he does work well from the inside, he gets quick play the balls and often slows down the speed of the opposition play the balls. He had some good games and some poor ones. He was far from great, but he was also far from pathetic.
Hopefully he has a better year next year.
