His kicking is average, he is slow (in 5/8 terms), defence is below par, and his attitude is as variable as the wind.
...
I see a top quality centre written all over him, can't say I see a 1 or 6 on his back though.
Seeing it is one thing
Him continuously mentioning it in interviews is another...
I think that much of the decision making in attack is taken from him at centre; whereas at 5/8 if he drifts out of the game our backline is stifled. The attack he is facing a little wider out also gives him a little more time to make decisions and commit; not saying it is simple but more suited to his game than what I have seen of him at 5/8.Can you really see a top quality centre when he is slow with poor defense and his attitude is all over the place ?
To me centres need some pace and it's one of if not the hardest position to defend in the game plus it's a position where players can go missing.
I'm waiting to see how he goes this season.
agreed.don’t rate him at fullback tbh…
Earl I agree with a majority of your post, however I played centre on numerous occasions in the day,if your coached properly stick to your opposition man ,run hard at the gap and get a pass away to your winger, then it's a good position to play...if I went missing in games I would find myself on the bench because I would be letting my team mates down...Can you really see a top quality centre when he is slow with poor defense and his attitude is all over the place ?

Definitely. One hundred percent the hardest position to defend. Can you really see a top quality centre when he is slow with poor defense and his attitude is all over the place ?

TT, whilst that may have been true with older backline structures, unfortunately, sticking to your man died with the introduction of the backline sweep and second man play. Centre is the major decision maker in the backline now and communication with their outside men is paramount. It's a high-pressure position defensively and one that carries alot of the burden for edge performances for teams.Earl I agree with a majority of your post, however I played centre on numerous occasions in the day,if your coached properly stick to your opposition man ,run hard at the gap and get a pass away to your winger, then it's a good position to play...if I went missing in games I would find myself on the bench because I would be letting my team mates down...

Gee Kelce ,I'm glad I finished off my career on the wing....If I was playing these days in the centres I'd have my work cut out staying on the bloody field..I was ok in the old days but I probably wouldn't make the cut these days..I'd have a red hot go though...😁TT, whilst that may have been true with older backline structures, unfortunately, sticking to your man died with the introduction of the backline sweep and second man play.
