Adam Doueihi #227

Doueihi’s actions remind me a bit of Ryan Matterson who decided to sit out a game or two when his team needed him, rather than paying the paltry fine so he could be available. He never recovered from that and faded into oblivion afterwards, despite being a handy player for many years. Hope that doesn’t happen to Doueihi, but he certainly hasn’t done himself any favours.

💯 it could all be crocodile tears and blow up again . I personally saw his face and the little keys in his voice . It sure did read like a guy who genuinely regretted his actions. .
Matterson never once gave me the impression of a guy who gave a shit about anything other than himself . It’s to this point I have hope that AD is willing to do the work and rebuild . Time will tell .

It's not about forgiveness, take the emotion out of it...

It's about standards and culture along with accountability...

Words are none of those things and the reality of life is their are consequences for the actions we take.

Letting him off Scott free sends a poor message.

There is no way the team has forgiven him, some player maybe but mostly it's been a show for the camera.

You reckon Terrell is happy with the leaked vaping crap ... Our performances indicate there are massive issues within the playing group....
Who says he got let off Scott free? I don’t know who reported it , but someone reported that Benji has told AD his future is at 13. It might even have been on here . Just because he’s got the 7 now … come the game against the cowboys I reckon Latu will be wearing it .
I genuinely think he’s wearing the 7 because madden can’t tackle and is out , and Javon simply isn’t ready yet .
And it’s too this when Latu takes the 7 we will see if AD was full of shit . Until then …. Also who’s to say there’s not some punishment he has to do for this . Like wear a dress at the end of season . It might sound trivial . But who knows what’s happened internally .

Good culture in the NRL is measured by success/talent. Funny how some of even the best clubs under admired coaches have had their most talented of players guilty of letting their club team down by their choices -some illegal and if frowned upon by society.
NRL is a reflection of young society - sometimes tempted/responsible for poor choices and that happens across all clubs. When it happens in clubs at the bottom of the table it's a culture problem.

TurnStyle's TenSense:
I forgive and forget very easily and without issue. Usually.

He's saying all the right things, and I'm sure he does regret last week. But token as it may seem, I still would've had him in KOE this week.

If it were me I would've insisted I go down for a week; both of them should have!

That would be setting and maintaining a "standard".

Yes, we all fk up. But we all also at least do something resembling substance to regain the faith.

Whatever the case, this looks to everyone as though he's just allowed to carry on as usual. And hey, fk that kid whose debut was completely overshadowed by it...

I really don't care what his reasons were. I don't care if he is right and it had the desired effect.

One week in KOE and we're good. But nope...

This is not "leadership" of any sort from either party.

This is setting precedent. A terrible one.

We don't truly know if he has been penalised, but that's the point.

One week in KOE and the world knows he's done at least something.

The press conference was handled well tbh. I believe the two of them however it shows Benjis inexperience and AD being a problem to manage. The bigger issue is leaks to the media and it highlights how wrong we were to get rid of Richo. The club has no control.
Thanks HBG. Richo was the Blocker Roach to Ben Elais for Benji

I understand the Matto link but it’s really not the same. He did it to avoid paying a fine. Adam got his charge downgraded and therefore only had to a pay a fine. Then he decided not to play due to his headspace being all off. So Adam while yes doged the club and his mates on the weekend he still paid the fine for the charge. So no Adam and Matterson are not really comparable imo

Exactly. AD could sign with Newy and get caught up in a cubicle incident with Ponga.

Bit naive to think all clubs don’t have blokes letting standards slip.

Losing obviously heightened the emotions and AD flipped his lid.

He’ll be under the microscope this weekend.

So if benji was partly in the wrong do you suggest he sits out a week too?

He said today he shouldve played.
The mental health card obviously an excuse
We still really dont know why he didnt play....we.just know he didnt play, like.matto..the same thing

God I miss Richo. Always knew something like this would happen with him gone.

AD has made his bed now he has to lie in it. He hasn't got away with anything - if anything he has put a huge target in his back.
The players and coach have a relationship with him unlike fans who see him more like a commodity - useful until he isn't.
If Benji/players choose to move on and get on with it then it is the most mature action and shows that they value him.
They cant control what people from the outside looking in will make of it.
The one thing that can’t be faked is the 80 minutes between the whistles.

That’s how we’ll know how rosey things are at Concord.

It's a simple concept really, being sorry dose not free you from the consequences of your actions of which there has been zero consequences to him for his actions.....
TT you carry on as if AD killed someone. He made a mistake, accepted he should have played, apologised to Benji, his team mates and publicly. His name has been tarnished by his actions and his coach and team mates have accepted it. Has been at the Tigers for 6 years with 3 to go. That shows his loyalty to us more than other player in our history. You need to move on and judge his actions on the field hereafter.

i've done plenty of dumb things in my life, but not to the people I care and respect. Saying sorry is hollow to me when he had no other option. He dragged Benji and the club through the mud, he hung his team mates out to dry.

The narrative was against him, no other club wanted to touch him when majority of the media turned on him. Very easy to say sorry when you have no other option. Last week he had plenty of time to reverse his decision and suit up but he didn't.

Other fans can choose to forgive him thats their choice, but I was in canberra when he wasn't so I never will.
I feel sorry for you that you will never forgive him for his f..k up. Have some empathy. It's not that important in the scheme of things.

Mate, I sat there with my kids in the cold and had to explain why their favourite player couldn't make it. I sat in the car for 3 1/2hrs back with them to our home in albury devastated after the loss. They only get to see games in melbourne and canberra as sydney is too far to drive. These are their favourite two days of the year and we almost never win. Normally they don't care if the tigers lose, they are use to it, but to not have their favourite player put on his boots not through injury, through a disagreement broke my heart. He can claim he cares about the fans, but in my two kids eyes he couldn't have cared less about them on that day. They were devestated and this is the first time they don't want to be tigers fans. Maybe one day he will earn their respect back and Ill change my mind on him, but till that day I don't want to see him in our jersey. I dont expect others to have such a black and white view on him, but not every fan has to be happy with his apology and having him back either.
