As Cleary goes all out with a full-strength squad, including the return of Fisher-Harris and To’o (ankle), the ‘Tigers will be without Doueihi who partially tore his ACL during pre-season, only to make the tear bigger against Cronulla.’

It will make it interesting over the off-season depending on how long he’s out. Possibly gives room to start the season with Hastings 7 and brooks 6

Recruitment had a plan when they pretty much head hunted Hastings. It was to get a good utility to replace Walters. Which they have done. Now with MBye moving on he will also replace MBye.
What’s been quoted is Hastings as a lock or in jersey 13.
Whilst i don’t expect Hastings to start the season at Lock I would not be surprised to see him finish it there.
His a big half with his main skill set being passing at the line. And the footwork and speed to beat a middle defender. I think he will become our version of Radley / Murray. And watching him in his most recent Wigan game playing 5/8 I think this will benefit him and the team the most.

Not to detract from the thread. Short message is keep AD at 5/8 his improving his understanding of the game but certainly his skill set is best utilised in the halves

I do rate Hastings a much better player than Connor Watson and Hastings could turn into a good 13

Just as a general comparison to other smaller 13's here are a few heights/weights of similar style of players:

Cam Murray:
184cm
90kg

Jackson Hastings:
182cm
95kg

Victor Radley:
182cm
92kg

Connor Watson:
177cm
89kg

Cam McInnis:
177cm
91kg

Looking at the above I'd argue Hastings is far more gifted with ball playing ability than any of the above. Has more speed than prob all bar maybe Connor Watson. If he can develop defensively he could potentially be a real quality 13.

AD definitely has the skill set to be our long term 6. Big body, great ball runner and decent high ball. Obviously needs to work on when to run when to pass and his overall reads in D but this is really his first season where he's played 5/8 and he hasn't even been in the 6 all of it.

Brooks to lock, Hastings to halfback.

Our best mix of AD, Hastings, and Brooks IMO is
6. Brooks
7. Hastings
13. AD

AD needs to spend a lot of time working on his defence to make this work though.

Interesting to note that in the latest Hertz Car Talk with Joffa and JTJ they both easily agreed AD to be the coaches favourite, which doesn’t surprise me at all. Sounds like a lot of meetings between the two and that they are close.

Also mentioned that when JTJ joined the club that Madge made a comment about finally having some game breakers and Nofo was low key offended by the sounds.

Also Joffa mentioned that players did tell him before he came that Madge was a tough, no nonsense coach which he says is true now ha I g worked with him. Found it interesting that others told him before he came though, does support evidence of the Madge stigma

Doesn’t appear so.

Might be good for the club to put some kind of official update even if it’s just “getting more scans on Friday”.

Does not sound good. Could be clickbait but this from fox sports in regards to moving Brooks on:

Brooks is signed until 2023, but was reportedly looking at his options, while the club weighed up moving on from their long-term No.7 this off-season.

However Doueihi’s injury will put a strain on the Tigers’ halves stocks and it could give Brooks one more chance to realise his potential and lead the club to the finals next year.

“Tragic for Adam who has probably been their best player this year and it looks like he will miss a big chunk of next year as well with that ACL injury,” Brent Read said on Triple M.

“That is going to have ramifications for the Tigers.

“There has been a lot of mail around Luke Brooks in the off-season and whether he might be on the move.

“I suspect now the Tigers would be really reluctant to lose Luke Brooks given Adam Doueihi won’t be around.
