Adam Doueihi #227

Good to hear we get a player in from another club (the one that came last)
and he's already one of the fittest in the Squad - Is also a Forward.
How many years in a row is that?

Surely there's some level of shame when these Players continually come in from
other clubs and show our lads up in Fitness?
Our lack of ability to go for the full 80 is hardly a Trade Secret...

good to finally get some football insights for a change. sounds like AD will certainly start the year at 7 with KPP alongside him on that right edge. hard not to get excited hearing him talk about Heamasi like that. wouldn't be surprised to see Bunty snag a bench spot over Royce either.
Good to hear there is some serious competition for positions in the 17.

Chad Townsend stating board level drama had been a distraction for his team previously...senior leadership group having to adress the squad and focus on ignoring it
Flies In the face.of a few here that tey to push the "the players wouldnt even be aware" line
Of course it's a distraction, when you have constant turmoil in your workplace it has to make it harder to focus on your objectives.

Fine to say that the players are professionals and that they should be able to focus on the job they are paid to do, but regardless of whether you are a Rugby League player or a Rocket Scientist it's hard to just get on with it when the people that ultimately run the show are Space Cadets.

It has has to be remembered that most of the players that we are talking about are relatively young and have very little life experience and with the knowledge that a career in the NRL is generally relatively short, coupled with other uncertainties like the actual security that an NRL Contract provides, the last thing that you need is constant disruption and interference at board level.

Yea, but the board will only bother them if their Managers OR the coach is effected.

Maybe Richo's sacking may effect them. I kinda doubt it.

Management research says this:
employees care about their Immeadiate boss the most.
Not the GM, not the next guy down. Their boss.

A good coach will keep the players thinking about footy, the board won't mean anything to them.

Did you listen to the Douehi interview???
A long time ex player just said the opposite.

Any uncertainty at the board/management level isn't good. It doesn't mean that the team can't be successful though. It depends how they react.
Funnily enough, one thing our club has going for it is that it's been drama after drama, so maybe the boys will just say "oh well, same old story" and get on with it. If they win their first game, build some confidence the board room noise won't matter. The longer it takes to win, the more the pressure builds.

On Douehi, I think he'll do well at 7 if he's trained there. He's a mature head and unlike his previous time at 6 he now has some serious strike weapons around him. Always liked him as a half, but I think we all expected miracles from him when the squad wasn't great.
I still hope Fainu is the long-term solution though.

Yep I agree, the coaching staff will have the playing group balls deep training the house down in a bubble, 100% footy talk and leave the office to the office. Minimal distraction .🐯☝️
