Gree is a Chinese brand. They're OK but cheap as and I wouldn't put one in my house. Daikin are decent units but are really expensive to get parts for and at the moment especially the wait is huge on their spares, so I generally advise people against installing their gear.

My recommendation is a Mitsi Electric (not to be confused with Mitsi Heavy Industries,) or Fujitsu. I have a Fuji in my place, but it's a 15kW ducted unit.

Also try to get a unit that runs on R32, it uses less power than R410A.

Lastly, consider where you're installing your outdoor unit, if you can mount it on a wall that is permanently shaded, or shaded in the peak hours of the day (i.e avoid putting it on a north or west facing wall,) you'll avoid solar gain on your coil which can tax it in hot months.

Thanks mate ....

25 years in the Air-conditioning trade here, don't do Gree lol.
Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Mitsubishi heavy industries, Fujitsu, Daikin are the only ones I would recommend.
I've heard some guys give MEA a bum wrap, but all their gear I've ever installed or had our guys install has been good. Never had any issues with unit failures or anything. They seem to handle Australian climate better than most.

A couple of years ago we had a Mitsubishi Eletric ducted system replace the original ducted system we fitted. It is powerful and cools the rooms within five minutes.

I highly rate Mitsubishi including heavy industries.
Air-conditioning units are like cars, they require maintenance and things do randomly go wrong from time to time.
Install them properly, service them and you increase your chances of getting approx 10 good years out of a high wall split or ducted.
I'm happy if one lasts 7 years in all honesty.

My parents got 18 years out of a LG wall splitty. Died a couple of years back.

We had the Actron QUE System installed in our new build about 5 years back. Was about 17k installed but worth the $ in my opinion and hasn’t skipped a beat. Aussie made from memory.

You can have each room separately zoned. So you only use power to whatever room you want on at any one time.

We don’t have any kids yet so we can just have our room on and the other 3 bedrooms off to save electricity. Can control over your phone and if you have Bed 1 for example on 20 degrees but someone in Bed 2 likes it a bit warmer then can set there’s within 4 degrees of whatever the main controller is set to.

There has been some progress in this space over the years so there may be other systems in place now that have been brought out that might be a little cheaper. At the time it was the top of the range though so we paid a bit extra for it.

I’ve also heard Mitsubishi Electric is an excellent brand… I have twin Fijitsu 14kw units and have been nothing but trouble over the 6 years I’ve had them…. Before I’ve had Actron which was trouble free for 7 years….

If you have home insurance, it will cover the new unit due to storm damaging your current unit
