The POM said Madge met with AJ twice...

Madge has wanted AJ for a while.

Madge is his old coach.

AJ is off contract and thus needs a big year....Souths FB spot is gone and wing spots he is depth only.

Despite all that, he does not want to come.

Again, is it a recruitment issue or simply a ridiculous run of bad luck. We have tried for DWZ..:Moylan....Lomax....Lattrell...AJ....

That is a LOT of fullbacks to try for and fail.

There will definitely be fall out at Souths, maybe not before the season starts - but there will be off-field distractions for them all year around who goes to keep LM.

Really looking forward to that.

I very much doubt it.

The guys pushed out at some point are passive blokes like AJ and AD.

The main personalities in that team are Walker and co and they are all mates with LM.

Lol

Cause he’s garbage

83 tries from 123 games. if you think he's garbage i'd hate to think what you thought of our wingers.

Well lets compare him to one of our wingers.

AJ, at Souffs has scored 83 from 123, a strike rate of 67%.

Robert Jennings, at Souffs, scored 24 from 34, a strike rate of 70%.

Robert Jennings, at Tigers Scored 6 from 18, a strike rate of 33%.

For mine that parallel is strong. I reckon Johnston would have about the same contribution as RJ and less than CT.

Jennings was out of shape and sluggish all year. He also played in the centres for a time. Never looked settled. I think RJ will be better this year.

Regardless, I think AJ would be good pickup either at fullback or wing. Doesn’t look like he’s coming though so we won’t find out.

Why is AJ not coming to Tigers?

Sorry no inside info, but was reported by someone (maybe DT) and Richardson said yesterday they can fit in Arrow too without moving anyone on.

That alone just blows my mind...
NRL need to take a good hard look at their roster and if they can fit Arrow in this year as well without letting someone go there is a serious problem.

Just let this list below sink in of 10+ rep players they have
ARROW, Jai
BURGESS, Thomas
COOK, Damien
DOUEIHI, Adam
GAGAI, Dane
GRAHAM, Campbell
JOHNSTON, Alex
LOWE, Ethan
MITCHELL, Latrell
MURRAY, Cameron
REYNOLDS, Adam
ROBERTS, James
WALKER, Cody

He didn’t say that actually... he said there have only been phone calls that have taken place, no one has met anyone.

How do people know that we have tried for Lomax and Moylan - because it was suggested in the media?
To my knowledge there was never any offer/contract to either who are both contracted to clubs.
If having chats with players is now considered as missing out on them and suggests club evasion, every team will be victim to that and not just us.

Well he said Madge has spoken to him twice. Regardless, obviously Madge wants AJ.

So, why have we have missed out again? That makes five....five!!!...FBs we have targeted and missed. People seem to act like there is no issue.

Ha -@ElleryHanley you should work in the media.
What do you consider is targeting - just so I know how we missed out on them. Contracts offered?

If you want to believe we have not tried to get a FB mate then go ahead and believe it.

DWZ clear
LM clear
Lomax The Pom said was very close...

But go ahead and believe what you want.

Correct - We didn't offer Lomax a deal and we didn't take Moylan past a chat as he was after a long term deal that we were not prepared to offer due to his history on injuries. Tigers declined him not the other way around.

We need to open up spots in the Top 30 for our promising junior backs. Offer top 30 spots with an opportunity for the NRL this year. Pay Macqueen and one other to leave. Get proactive and change things up. Hoping that a player will be forced our is negative, old school and frankly tiresome.

So you could say that in the case of Latrell Mitchell the Bulldogs Cowboys and Titans all missed out on him too because they all had more than just a chat.
If it is considered missing out on a player when a discussion is had then all clubs are going to miss out more than they will score. That I believe.

100% tried with Moylan. Twice.

Souths fans saying AJ given time off to think of Tigers offer. Also said zero chance Douehi allowed to leave as Bennet loves him and they will need him for the Origin period to cover 1-6-7.

Conversely, AJ told he may be in reggies of he stays.

someone else mentioned he met with WT last night.

At Souths he will be their third choice winger.

With us he would be first choice FB.

That is a huge difference.Bennet is a master at moving them on...

Will be very surprising if he stays imo.

Yeah it's not a hard decision if i'm AJ. This is easily the best move for him career wise.
