We have had far too many players sidelined with pre-existing injuries.

We've had 2 in 20 years, if I'm not mistaken? Ballin and Jason Cayless. 3 if you count Tame Toupou, though he didn't sign a FG contract I don't believe.

That’s 3 too many.

Ha you sound like a road safety representative.

Yeah it's too many, also, the real world.

What is the combined dollar value of Matt Ballin plus Jason Cayless plus Tame Toupou, in non-consecutive seasons.

Probably close to zero, I think from memory Ballins contract was paid by Manly, not sure of the others. I was thinking more recently with players sidelined after short periods.

The POM said Madge met with AJ twice...

Madge has wanted AJ for a while.

Madge is his old coach.

AJ is off contract and thus needs a big year....Souths FB spot is gone and wing spots he is depth only.

Despite all that, he does not want to come.

Again, is it a recruitment issue or simply a ridiculous run of bad luck. We have tried for DWZ..:Moylan....Lomax....Lattrell...AJ....

That is a LOT of fullbacks to try for and fail.

He didn’t say that actually... he said there have only been phone calls that have taken place, no one has met anyone.

Well he said Madge has spoken to him twice. Regardless, obviously Madge wants AJ.

So, why have we have missed out again? That makes five....five!!!...FBs we have targeted and missed. People seem to act like there is no issue.

Ha -@ElleryHanley you should work in the media.
What do you consider is targeting - just so I know how we missed out on them. Contracts offered?

If you want to believe we have not tried to get a FB mate then go ahead and believe it.

DWZ clear
LM clear
Lomax The Pom said was very close...

But go ahead and believe what you want.

They are all "potential" fullbacks. None of them had a history of playing in the position, and 2 of them still don't.

Could be something... could be nothing, wasn't at training today (Souffs LU Forum)

someone else mentioned he met with WT last night.

At Souths he will be their third choice winger.

With us he would be first choice FB.

That is a huge difference.Bennet is a master at moving them on...

Will be very surprising if he stays imo.

Pull the offer. Would rather be without him for a year. He will be looking for a long term deal.

Wait until the end of next season when he is off contract and no-one wants him, and then offer him a career lifeline. He is not going to bring us a premiership, not going to markedly improve the side. I would rather bottom out than be stuck with the 4th man on a strong rosters depth chart for the next 3 years.

Pascoe said there will be nothing this week

Sooo

He actually said ‘not at this stage’

Mats new injury, it's been officially ruled that way
McQueen hasn't rebroken his neck
Reynolds fresh injuries, hammy was short-term, then shoulder
Idris ACL after taking year(s) off
Mathew Head played 11 games for Tigers; but actually averaged 10 games per season in his last 5 years, 4 of those with Saints. So we got what we expected.

If you want to generate a list of bad signings, or a list of players who got hurt, by all means. But I don't buy into the argument made that we have some history of buying busted players.

You take the odd risk, players get hurt in many and terrifying ways.

Mats had 2 knee recos prior and didn't excel here
McQueen after his neck injury didn't excel here
Reynolds had perennial hammy issues and hasn't excelled here. Ivan signed us crocks. Not Madges fault, just hoping the cash is spent wisely, if its actually spent

Word around town.

Whats the word now?

Still in the works. Along with aetkins. Looking for a centre as well.

Braydon burns a possibility to come with AJ. Solves 2 issues. I rate burns personally.

Quote from who...his manager...?

Yes a quote without a source isn't much help

So far he has got everything right...

Like our Pom, he just posts. No grandstanding.

Ok let’s just call it an inconvenient coincidence.

Why would South's release 2 players if they don't have to?

AJ an expiring contract. Burns opportunity. Especially if gagai Roberts not going Anywhere.
