Accidental or not does not matter did he land on his head yes was there lifting between the legs yes . End of story 8-10 weeks and yes because the kid broke his neck

McKinnon contributed to the way he landed just as much as anyone else. 8-10 weeks? good luck with that.

So it's his fault. ok sorry mate all good lets just sweep it under the carpet, hope next week they try not to do it again. Ahh also Cameron smith Australian of the year along side you. Wanker

Who said it was his fault, it it was no ones, it was an ACCIDENT on everyones part. You know what an accident is genius?

The commentators even said he ducked his head. Guess by your logic they were saying it was his fault too huh?

There was an illegal act in the tackle that directly led to the end result…I wonder if you can tell us what it was.

I dont want to watch it again but im guessing hand between the legs???

The lifting above the horizontal. Don't need hands in the legs. If its less than 8-10 weeks this game is going to leave itself horribly exposed.

Simple fact is that there was no need to lift to effect the tackle. They did and now a kid may never walk again.

I reckon there was a minor infringement that had a terrible consequence, I dont think the jury should throw the book at them….

there was no malice, no intent, and every game has 100's of similar incidents.

it was a horrible, horrible accident

luke odonnel flipped simona on his head last year, do you think he got 8-10 weeks?

you could make a case for piledriver, above horizontal and then unnecesary pressure into the ground. But the question is should the injury severity factor into the penalty? If so then yea 8-10 weeks, if not then 3-4 weeks.

He should have. Lifting the legs has no role in the game and should be outlawed entirely IMHO.

I havent got into the argument of how the tackle should be treated until now.

I have always been on the side of taking into account the damage and injury done to the victim. I can see the other side where people say theres so many examples of similar and even worse tackles that cause no injury, so why treat this different.

But if u punch a guy in the head u get charged with assault. If u punch a guy in the head and kill him u get charged with murder or manslaughter…...so IMO the severity of the injury must come into account. If a player is found to be guilty of an illegal act that caused this then throw the book at them. Yes....if Alex never plays again then so does player X.

As for people saying he shouldnt have ducked his head.....slap slap slap u morons. U only duck your head as a natural self preservation act. If he isnt lifted he doesnt have the NATURAL INSTINCT to duck.

Yeh thats the illegal part, I havent seen it again either and dont want to…what or who is really irrelevant now, its done.

No more comment from me on this while hes lying there in hospital

My prayers go out to him

Do you think it was severe enough to warrant the offending players being fined, suspended and be forced to live with it for the rest of their lives? the intent wasn't to break the kids neck.

**As it happens the players involved weren't even cited**.

All three were put on report last night, the matter has been deferred until a more appropriate time

The fact that they have decided to defer the hearing at the judiciary suggests to me that they want to know the extent of the injury first and that they therefore will take the severity of the injury into account.

That tackle happened dozens of times this year already. Had he not been severely hurt I would be surprised if anyone did more than 2 weeks for it.
Unfortunately he has been hurt and hurt bad. Should the defenders cop 3 months for it? Personally I think not but I have a feeling they will.

Lol if you say so hero.

Its one thing to say the tackle was intentional, its another to say they intended to break his neck. If you believe that, well to use an analogy my nameless new friend would use, you are high.

McKinnon faces two-year recovery

On Monday night scan results for Alex McKinnon confirmed a dislocation at C4 and C5.

McKinnon had emergency surgery early on Tuesday morning to stabilise his neck, which consisted of a disc removal at C4 and C5 and anterior fusion.

Alex had additional scans on Tuesday afternoon, which confirmed a devastating spinal injury.

Alex remains in hospital in intensive care and may require further surgery to stabilise his spine.

He has movement in his right arm and the uncertainty remains in regeneration, with a variable prognosis.

The doctors explained regeneration and recovery could be up to two years.

Family and Club officials remain with Alex in hospital. The Club requests Alex and his family's privacy is respected at this time.

Tell me this if someone punches a guy and kills him,It's an accident ok if he didn't intend to kill him then maybe. BUT HE DID . Does he get charged with assault or murder?
